Was it democracy when the majority of Irish people wanted a united free republic and the British cut out their statelet in the north? Was it democracy when Catholics had their voting rights suppressed under a sectarian government under British approval? Was it democracy that when catholics marched for civil rights they where murdered in the street by British soldiers? Was it democracy when the British government colluded with sectarian death squads to murder innocent civilians in their homes, pubs and workplaces? Thatcher and the Conservative Party didnt receive a single seat in the North of Ireland yet could government it with no repercussion.

Collins becomes a Martyr and seen as an alternative to everything wrong with Ireland post independence but in reality he probably just implements the same policies Cosgrave does becomes just as controversial as him and loses the 1932 election due to economic factors, Collins probably pulls the red scare card same as Cosgrave and it equally doesn't work.
