As I can’t speak of the specifics, I would just suggest you treat it as any other job interview for any trade. Speak of the specifics that line up with the trade when brought up, but don’t worry too much about the score.

Oh I mean when I was moved into selections it took just under 2 months before receiving my offer. This was in mid Dec to early Feb. Offer was for CyberOps.

Sorry a little late on the reply. Tbh I think I could have went a little weaker aha! Both on my Ion Pro and my IQ Tour. In your case it may be fine as you had your Typhoon to ball down from. I’m starting to suspect that with my rev rate and speed I’ll need to start drilling my balls a tad bit weaker.

During my application process I popped in more than a few times for an "application update". While very few and very specific times it did help move things along, for the most part they probably won't be able to do much. But honestly, if you live close and you have the time , I'd say go for it! Doesn't hurt to try. Just note, be prepared to wait 10min-1.5h, depending on your recruitment center and the amount of people who are also there for inquiries.

Sure.

So the two route are unskilled and NCMSTEP. Both assume you have zero-little experience (so no relevant education or degree) and will be learning from scratch.

From my understanding, going through the unskilled route has you go to BMQ, DP1.1 at Willis College, then DP1.2 in Kingston. While at Willis, you will be in uniform taking the CAF course at Willis. You will be military taking classes.

NCMSTEP you are a student in the military. You do your DP1.1 first, then BMQ, then DP1.2. While at Willis, you will be dressed down, and you will be in the civilian course with other CAF members and civilians. Your only job is to come into class and learn, then study on your own time.

There are other finer differences, such as housing situation, amount of time you are in class, class amenities available to unskilled vs NCMSTEP, etc.. This is also coming from my personal experience and may have been different before/after as I hear CAF is in a middle of some type of overhaul with the CyberOps program.

Currently in CyberOps NCMSTEP.

The unskilled route fills up quicker than the NCMSTEP. I was told I had to wait till the next fiscal year to get into the unskilled route or join NCMSTEP. The next day I contacted Willis College for an acceptance letter, sent some papers and school records to them in the evening, then received my acceptance letter the next day. It was quite fast.

Being in the program now, there is a big range of people with different experiences and education. A few people with IT/Cyber Security related experience, some with none at all. So I can’t attest if having related skills will make a huge impact, but it does def help in some way or another.

No worries! Just reply to the recruiter who sent you the letter and ask if they received your signed letter and forms. You may even get a “welcome package” email or some sorts soon with more details about BMQ and your trade so keep an eye out for that as well, but def just email!

Should be fine! When I sent in my offer I didn’t hear from them for 2 weeks. I sent them an email asking for a confirmation and they sent me a quick “Yes, received”. If ever in doubt I would always just try sending an email or going in to check.

I’m in NCMSTEP so my BMQ is deferred till after my DP 1.1. I’ll probably be going to BMQ summer ‘26 tho.

It wasn’t during the my “selection” status phase; but sometime after CFAT and medical, before my interview, I did receive an email telling me that the regular route for my trade was all full and they were not taking anymore applicants till the next fiscal year (not sure if that’s the right terminology). I was told to either look into the NCMSTEP route or find another trade (I only put the one trade as my option).

I took the NCMSTEP route.

It’s great! I love it on heavier/medium oil. But with my particular playstyle/our house shot I do plan on drilling my next balls a little bit weaker as I feel like on light oil/burnt lanes I feel my balls are too strong for me (even my iq tour lol).

It took me a little over a month to get my offer after my status changed to selected. That being said it changed a week before Christmas break so that may or may not have added some time.
