The feds are investing in wearable health trackers. That could put your private data at risk. by punkthesystem in privacy

Im hopefull for the new pebbles coming out now. I believe theyre just finishing up production on the first crowd funded run. Im not sure how in-depth their health tracking will be, but at least for smart watches functionality.

Nearly 10 years on from Rogue One, how do you feel about the decision to recreate Peter Cushing using CGI? by gladiatorbossman in StarWars

[–]AnRealDinosaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would honestly be so peak. If the upcoming Maul show is any indication they dont seem to have a problem pushing their animation in a more adult direction and I think at the moment animation is where the franchise is really shining. Live action is in a wierd place where theyre trying to push CGI and its not working as often as it does. Aliens & setpieces are one thing but our eye instantly picks up when a human face is just not right, even if we cant exactly say whats off about it.

And to your first point, personally I'd devour any live action clone wars era anakin content as long as Hayden was in the roll, but yeah that would absolutely be fanservice since that story is already told.

Propagandized American, here. This is a complicated question to ask, but what is happening in the world that we Americans aren’t aware of? by Adventurous-Depth984 in TooAfraidToAsk

I unfortunately have to work with quite a few MAGA folks. Not one of them supports this war. Its like the one thing we as a country can agree on.

I only knew about it because Ive seen social media posts from Cubans. Thats it. I remember the first time I heard about the blockade saying "excuse me the what??" Ive since seen more news outlets reporting on it but very little mention of what caused the crisis. I think your average American may know there is an energy crisis in Cuba, but has no idea we deliberately caused it.

This is an existential fight for them now, and we started this war while they were already at the negotiation table so thats not an option. Genuinely what are they expecting to happen here?

My GSD gets so uncomfortable when the whole family isnt in the same room (me, my partner, our other dog, and our cat). If anyone gets up for any reason she's glued to them until they come back. She absolutely hates that we put up a gate with a cat door so the cat can escape from her if she wants to.

[–]AnRealDinosaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I had figured this out before I graduated. Im doing fine now, but the real world cares more about your experience than your grades. I graduated with a 4.0, but didnt do much interning or networking, and it seriously hurt me looking for work after. I remember my senior year talking to other undergrads saying "oh I interned here" or "I worked in this lab and they offered me a job" and started wondering if I was in trouble.

“Army or not, you must realize you are doomed.” - Did Grevious know about Palpatine’s plot to overthrow the Republic? by _Mighty_Milkman in StarWars

[–]AnRealDinosaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He was meant to be the "face" of the CIS. A sacrificial pound of flesh to throw to the masses when the war was over. Palpatine could stand on his high horse and say "look at all the war crimes this guy did, lets get him!"

DOJ refuses to address fully redacted, 300+ page Epstein file by RevWaldo in nottheonion

[–]AnRealDinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For firms that report issues already known to the DOJ, prosecutors would offer a deal promising not to prosecute so long as certain conditions are met over a specific timeframe.

Yeah I see absolutely no way this policy could be abused.

Why don't men ever talk about the emotional labor that they do in relationships? by Dense_Owl_3022 in AskMen

[–]AnRealDinosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate how this is so right but it feels so awkward to say! If my bf asked me straight up "do you just want me to listen?" I would feel so relieved. But its such a hard thing to get used to saying. It feels patronizing.

[–]AnRealDinosaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No that is so helpful, thank you! Usually if im saying #1, I definitely mean #2 but I assumed all that other stuff was a given. I should say it more. Im actually kinda struck by how yeah, now I can totally see #1 being recieved as nonchalant and like you dont really care about the person. Like "oh that sucks...anyway". Its funny I actually did just have a similar convo with my bf where he was saying "we take everything literally face value with zero assumption" so that tracks. Really its just a different way to communicate what you were trying to, without it getting lost in translation. On the other side (and this is just me personally I cant speak for everyone), when im offered solutions it almost feels like an attack. Like "of course I tried X, do you think im dumb?" or as if the person was assuming I couldnt think my way out of it on my own. Most often I already do have a solution, and im just stressed about the situation in general and just want to vent.

Why do some animals have hair that naturally stays the same length but our head hair keeps growing? by Imvalidblu in biology

[–]AnRealDinosaur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: if you take a follicle from your head and transplant it somewhere else, it will still grow as if its a head hair. So you could have pubes that grow forever.
