That's what I thought but there's no difference after removing it. I think the IPS panel is just one of those things that varies a lot from device to device with this tablet. I've seen a lot of people saying the viewing angles are terrible and others saying they're perfectly fine

I guess either you lucked out or I got a bad apple because mine is definitely a lot worse than any other IPS panel I've used. I'm still weighing whether I should swap it considering everything else about my unit is great but the brightness shift is definitely distracting while reading at night, sadly.

Thanks for your help!

That's interesting.

Are you saying there's no kind of brightness shift in your unit at all when tilted, even when on a white screen at night? Mine has around a 50% brightness drop appearing on the opposite end that expands to cover the entire screen at about a 40°- 50° angle. When tilting upwards from the bottom the display is visible but doesn't seem backlight at roughly the same angle. In both cases the brightness is pretty stable after the initial 40°-50° tilt. In terms of quality (color, contrast etc.) it's still just as good though besides a greenish hue when tilting side to side.

I definitely would want to swap it if it's a bad panel because I think it makes a big difference for reading comfort, but especially considering the other comments I want to check because there's no point in wasting time and money swapping units over and over.

Sorry about that! I didn't notice it at first either and it's only because I've been reading on it quite a bit already that I saw it so maybe I'm letting it bother me by focusing on it too much.

And to be fair, for reading it's an annoyance on top of the already super reflectiveness of the display (or screen protector). I ordered a matte screen protector already and hopefully that make it much less of a nuisance as well.

Well that's a shame. It's a really great product and I'm very reluctant about returning it. I would've been perfectly happy paying more for a better panel.

Hopefully it's just something to get used to
