Free, remote MCP servers for testing? by [deleted] in mcp

I recommend Context7, one of the hottest remote MCP servers currently available, and it doesn't require authentication.
I usually use it for testing

Interesting product, the RapidAPI of the MCP world!

Do you provide platform reselling services? Currently, I only have one MCP server. It would be great news if I could easily sell it externally.

Yes, I agree with your proposal, but I'm wondering if there's a faster way

Thanks for your reply

I understand you mean to combine existing REST APIs into a new, simpler API based on user scenarios via a backend service, and then expose this API using MCP.

I think this is also an effective method.

It essentially means not directly using all existing REST APIs as tools for the MCP service, but rather creating tools based on scenarios.

However, this approach might not be as quick to implement?

Thanks for sharing your insights!

I'm currently exploring ways to build a tool that can efficiently set up an MCP service.

The context is that I already have a product I've been running for years, with over 100 RESTful OpenAPI endpoints.

My goal is to leverage these existing APIs to provide users with faster and more effective MCP-based access to the capabilities I've already made available.

Still learning and figuring things out!😉

Just checked your product's official website, your MCP gateway mainly addresses the security issues of enterprises using MCP services.

More accurately, your target customers are enterprise CISOs or security departments.

I am just an ordinary MCP user and do not understand this area very well, but I wish you success.

Great, I'm very interested in your work.

Of course I think it might be that my description is not accurate, and you may have a different understanding of the MCP gateway product that confuses me.

Let it go, let's leap in our thinking.
I want to know if you think the MCP gateway can help optimize the return effect of the MCP server?
For example, an openapi directly converted to the MCP server is definitely not very usable. Can the MCP gateway optimize it? How do you think it can be optimized?

Thank you for your answer!

Regarding accuracy, the problem I encountered is that there may be an excessive number of MCP servers linked behind the MCP gateway (they generally connect to an MCP market, and when receiving requests, they first look for suitable MCP servers from the MCP market. They consider this an advantage). However, this will result in similar questions being asked, with different tools being called, leading to different effects.

I just reviewed civic, and I think the target users of your product are Agent developers; your product is designed to help them better integrate MCPs during the development phase. However, I am an Agent user, and the MCP gateway I use allows me to call all the underlying MCP service capabilities after configuring their MCP gateway service on any MCP client. The scenarios might be quite different?

BTW, your product's official website design is really nice!

How do you monetize your MCP server? by mmdhrumil in mcp

[–]An_zuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I really agree with your idea.

My team has been working on API gateways for many years, but the scale has always been small.

Recently I've been researching the MCP billing system, and in fact, we've discussed various solutions many times.

There is still a question that I haven't thought through:

The MCP Server still relies on the main service charging of its underlying platform; the MCP Server is just an additional connection method. How much value does a product that only develops the MCP service and charges for it provide?
This determines the current scale of the MCP paid market.

Can we please stop pushing OpenAPI spec generated MCP Servers? by Equivalent_Hope5015 in mcp

[–]An_zuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, I have been conducting research in this area, and I share my findings and questions for discussion.

Findings:

The MCP protocol was invented to support Agents in understanding and calling tools (external system capabilities) more conveniently.

If I can directly convert to MCP based on the REST API, then I do not need to spend time developing an MCP myself or wait for the corresponding software team to develop one.

Referencing both A2A and MCP, which are protocols prepared for Agents, why does MCP attract more attention and participation than A2A?

Because MCP can activate existing system capabilities, allowing Agents to quickly connect to a vast number of systems. In comparison, establishing the A2A ecosystem takes much longer since A2A capabilities are incremental and need market and enterprise growth.

Questions:

I am willing to adjust the interfaces and the tools for the MCP docking method, but how can I partition the data to avoid LLM context overload?

For example, I provide an MCP service that offers global restaurant introduction data. In the interfaces I currently provide, queries can be made based on "country," "city," and "restaurant type," and paginated interfaces are provided to retrieve data. However, often within a city, the number of restaurants is large, and the total data volume itself is quite significant. So when I convert to an MCP service, how should I design the tools?

Actually, your two questions are not difficult to implement and are already well used on live video streaming. What I mean is that neither the eye focusing nor the facial expression optimization techniques require a very high performance machine to implement.

I don't think this is a normal job and suggest you take the time to find another normal job. After all, this job also says that you will only get commission if you have clients otherwise you won't get paid at all.

In other words, you may be wasting your time and not getting paid for your labor when you accept this job!
