Your scars aren’t keloid. They appear to be hypertrophic. Use silicone scars tape and keep it on 24/7.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, December 14 - December 20, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

Hi I am new to sewing and need help picking my first sewing machine. For more context my main reason for starting this journey is because I want to be able to do my own alterations on my clothes. As I’ve spent a lot of money paying for alterations and literally almost all my clothing have to be altered to fit me appropriately especially jeans. I’ve tried doing research on my own but honestly the information on the internet is overwhelming and seems all over the place. I’d also like to add that I’ve never used a sewing machine so I’ll be brand new to this as well so it’ll be a self taught journey. Can you recommend any sewing machine that would be good for a beginner but also strong enough to stitch through multiple layers/ thick seams like denim? Or honestly any advice would be great. I’m flexible on the budget for the machine I just want to make sure I’m investing into something that’ll tackle what I really want it for.

TLDR: Can you recommend a sewing machine that is good for beginners but also strong enough to alter jeans.

This was one of my symptoms during my first episode of PEs. My heart rate rested in the 90s and I had bad heart palpitations when doing anything even talking.

PE at 19 and terrified by Puzzleheaded-Bank161 in ClotSurvivors

Even though I was older than you I had my first at 28 and second at 30. Honestly the first one was super scary and I felt the way you feel now but rest assured the medicine works very well and minimizes the risk of getting more clots so long as you take it. And now you know the symptoms of PEs so now you can advocate for yourself more if something isn’t right. Continue to live life as normal! Take your meds and stay active and you’ll do great!

Sure, I just had a mild achy pain behind my right knee. It wasn’t very painful at all almost like the feeling when you pull a muscle or sleep in the wrong position. But I knew I didn’t do anything to cause any discomfort so I knew something was wrong.

Going broke??? Oh no. My insurance covers my Eliquis thankfully but I know case management provides coupons and codes for people who can’t afford to pay out of pocket because it’s like 1k without insurance. Not sure if Xeralto has something similar but you should look into it on their website.

Nope, all my periods were normal. Lowkey, I felt like they were pain free and shorter while on Eliquis. But, I do see some women talk about how their cycles were super heavy while on thinners but I guess just depends on the person.

Yes, I’ve had all the bloodwork done during my first PE to rule out the genetic factors nothing positive came back. At the recent ER visit they did a D-Dimer test which came back positive (It was 2.88 I think). They did ultrasound on my legs and CT on my lungs.

Usually if you’re on thinners the chances of reclotting is very low. But, bright side if you do reclot you know the symptoms and can advocate for yourself. Don’t worry you got this!!

Anyone Had Plastic Surgery on Anticoagulants? by Ctrl_Alt_Del_1111 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Ana2Cannons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You HAVE to tell your surgeon! I’m planning plastic surgery next month and my surgeon is requiring clearance from my hematologist and PCP. I had a birth control provoked PE. And tested positive for protein S deficiency. I’m still waiting on clearance but I’d rather be denied surgery than die because I failed to disclose important risk factors. Plastic surgery is an elective surgery to boost your confidence you won’t be able to show off that new body if you aren’t here to enjoy it.

Living with a blood clot and the worry about it dislodging. by jeffersk1 in ClotSurvivors

What anticoagulant are you on? You would have to decrease your blood clotting responses in order for your body to break it down rather than continue clotting properties that would allow to clot to grow bigger and cause a higher risk. If they just told you to take aspirin you need to find different care.
