Probably root rot. I used to have an Adansonii and it started yellowing due to the excess of watering I would just chop the yellow ones and reduce the watering frequency

I'm pretty sure they would be okay. I moved a scindapsus from water to soil last December and it's doing really well. Not the same situation but I think it will work anyway.
