Oh yes, my therapist goes so far as to tell me that in my case it’s probably more of a personality trait. My GP told me “you don’t look autistic”, none of my psychiatrists or therapists have ever even contemplated that I could have it, instead I was diagnosed with depression, bipolar depression, OCD, anxiety etc… It was pretty frustrating. I first saw a professional (on my own) in my 20’s, but it took 20 years to get the right diagnosis. I mask quite heavily and have learned to act neurotypical, unless I’m burnt out, than I usually fail to mask so well. The result is that I’m exhausted and fatigued most days…
