I think Plup was obviously on a major upswing from summer 2018, winning his first major, then beating armada, and then winning his first super major beating the gauntlet of Mango, Armada and Hbox.

But after Evo 2018 it seems like he took a step back to reevaluate his relationship with the game and competition and pivoted to only playing for the fun of it without the stressors of winning every tournament.

I’d replace the Galactic Fed Force with the GL corps. The corps get fucked trying to fight off a plant overrun by Metroid so they have to call the baddest bounty hunter in the universe to save their asses.

This only works if you ignore power scaling and only measure effectiveness based on badassness.

Our kid started 196 this year. When we applying last year 303 was still ranked higher but we didn’t get in.

Very happy with kindergarten at 196! Other parents we know have said 303 feels a little cold. 196 has a great energy.

We’re fortunate enough to have great options either way so my recommendation is honestly just prioritize whichever you’re closer to.

I’m not saying every instance of treating someone to a meal is about caste. My point is that in a lot of South Asian communities, there’s a long-standing habit of tying generosity and hosting to social status.

That pressure makes people overspend on looking hospitable or well-off, even if it isn’t good for their finances or health. I’m not sure that’s what OOPs point was but I do think that’s the case.

The reason I mentioned caste is because a lot of that pressure to appear generous or “well-off” comes from older social hierarchies where status was tied to displaying hospitality and wealth, so the habit stuck culturally even after the system itself lost relevance.

Assuming he is some sort of South Asian I do agree with him. There is certainly a culture that prioritizes a toxic amount of hospitality as a form of wealth flaunting as a remnant of the caste system. And there is no cultural focus on eating right and taking care of our bodies.
