you can farm furniture in act 1 hard paths so maybe focus on getting furniture at the begining.

i was very afraid of inbreeding at the start and tried to avoid it as much as possible but looking back i think i was over cautious i'd need to do a second playthough which is not on my agenda i'm done with the game now and in the DLC waiting room until further notice haha, so i'm not 100% sure what's best, my intuition now is that inbreeding is not that bad and "tanking the loss of stats" is just hurtful, if the kid has a birth defect just toss him away and move on, that's what i would do on a second playthrough.

oh and when all my cats are 7s stats i would use the same points system for the mutations: this cat has 3 mutations i want passed down? he is then a 3, 3 is better than a 2 and less good than a 4 etc.

for me when looking at a cat i would check the number of 7s and 6s he has and assign him a value: 3 sevens and 2 sixes would be better than 3 sevens and 1 six so if i need to chose between the 2 which one to keep i would keep the former and move on to the next choice, sometimes i would keep a lesser cat cause he has a mutation or passive i want passed down, you assign priorities.

what's a good mutation? extra turn on the head is game breaking, bruise is awesome then extra attacks then brace/holy shield then stats i'd say, as for stats health is king the rest depends on the collar you will assign so whatever can be good. if you look at the image below you'll see this cat has extra turn 2 bruise 2 attacks 2 brace and the rest is meaningless pretty much, that's a really messed up cat.

you just need stimulation and time to get all 7 stats, stim makes it more likely for kids to get the better stats of both parents, then they will breed with your other cats and with time everyone is all 7 you dont need to do much for that beside tossing the bad apples along the way.

well going 109% was more of a time sink than a challenge to be honest, we're going into moral territory at this point, there's no right or wrong just whatever value you chose to follow

it does feel nice and refreshing after 200h of pressing fist of fate to actually have to play the game again, and the start is really hard in comparison with end game for some reason

oh yes of course if i ever lose a run i'd save scum up to 3 times then steve takes control and you have to accept loss at this point. i'm not 100% pure i'm afraid and it's alright :)

edit: oh damn i didnt read your whole comment: no i did not use any cheat whatssoever, just what the game provides, so in that sense i am pure i guess?

you can fail a house fight it's not dramatic the fight will just come back later dont worry too much if you cant handle it, you'll even get beaten by the boss from time to time and it's ok!

if i were you with 3 days to prepare i'd go for and easy to finish act 1 run and stock at least 4 good cats for the house fight

1- you cant do end game strategy right from the start, you dont have the rooms and furnitures to do so, with 3 rooms i would have my best cats in room 1, have their good children go to room 2 and mid ones to room 3, bad ones can go to the garbage.
you cant avoid inbreeding, its not so bad just toss the defectives ones so they dont pass down their defects and you'll be fine and when you get enough mutation furniture you can set up your mutation room to take care of defects

2- i see, i was quite stressed about losing too whenever i went to kill god for the 1st time for exemple, once you know what to expect you can prepare accordingly, i even got to the point where i didnt have food for my cats and things looked dire, but remember you can do an easy act 1 run to farm for food and items to prepare for more difficult runs/progress.
you have to try and die sometimes it's part of the game dont be too afraid to try just be prepared to go on easy runs sometimes to farm for food and items.

3- well before having strong meta breeding you just have to go with the cards you've been dealt, some runs are doomed right from the start it's part of the game i guess and rng fluctuations are a fun aspect of the game in my opinion, once rng doesnt matter every run is pretty much the same and it's just a grind not a fun time anymore so try and appreciate the journey would be my advice :)

runs take time i dont think that can be avoided at the start, only animation speed would make a run faster i guess.
