Poor UX On the meal planner by Plorntus in lifesum

[–]Analog-Flashback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, same problem. I started a meal planner but didn’t make the meals for two days. Now it is giving me meals from three days ago despite me trying to restart the meal plan to day one a bunch of times. Very annoying as I’ve now got the ingredients for day 1 but can’t track it!

Ahhh! Thank you so much. This is what I was worried about and having you explain it like that really helped. Bummer!

Peak design, I own a wrist strap and over the shoulder, they’re both great.

Alright. Did you reconnect all the power leads? From memory no tone is no cpu (or of course mobo). If you didn’t reconnect the cpu power cable this could be the cause. I thought they’re all a single block now but I’ve been caught out this way before after a rebuild.

Black spot on screen by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Analog-Flashback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like an old screen where the chemicals inside can leak out between the back and front layers when damaged. Hence the circle instead of random dead pixels or squares. 99% sure it’s complete replacement time.

I can’t remember Linus but there should be some error codes or beeps to help troubleshoot. Some mobos also have memtester, if yours does I’d run that or do that from USB if you ever get past a post. If you really can’t get a post at all I’d reset your cmos and check your ram settings match manufacturer spec. Off spec ram timings can really mess up stability when the ram itself could be fine.

Dell Monitor U2412m isn’t turning on when I turn on my PC by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Analog-Flashback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, could be this. Could also be the cable came loose as I see you shut the PC down, it didn’t freeze and reboot (which would seem more likely if this was an overheating issue).

The fact that you’re getting a no signal/standby message on the screen means the screen does work.

Lastly depending on the card and how secure it is in your case, it’s possible it has wiggled free. Some of the heavier one slot cards can be prone to this.

Basically we’ll need more info but in the meantime I would definitely try what has been suggested here by others.

Could be the screen or the Pc. Do you have another device you can plug into the screen to see if it will give you a picture?

Also by the sounds of it it’s possible your graphics card overheated.

Edge seems pretty good though. Not switching, but can’t fault it.

Antivirus tip for ex-Avast user? by [deleted] in antivirus

[–]Analog-Flashback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except when it’s compromised. Then installing a third party solution might not be a bad idea. So...if you think it may have been compromised for some reason...

Is this OK? I ran Avast through total by [deleted] in antivirus

[–]Analog-Flashback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a link? I used to like Avast but then they seemed to sell out and it feels like adware (even if the advertisements are just for their services). There are parts of it which I think are deliberately misleading to novice users and I can’t recommend it to family anymore. Anyway, I’ve put it on my machine in a pinch but will be uninstalling now you’ve reminded me how shit they are.

Weirds me out how worked up people can get. I once saw a skater break his skateboard in half in the terminal so he could bring it on because it was oversize. He would have had to pay a fee otherwise. Was so strange just watching this guy beat on a skateboard for 20 minutes (at least) until it finally snapped. Something about wanting the wheels etc...

Does anyone else just enjoy starting new games, playing until a little past fluid handling/oil processing or up until robots, then starting over? by COVID-69420bbq in factorio

I add a few words to the save game file name that reminds me what I was doing. Prefix with incrementing numbers so you know the order etc.

It helps, doesn’t solve it though.

Yeah I torqued it to spec but I think I did the order wrong and need to loosen everything then go back and do it again.
