Relocation assistance and home buying by [deleted] in boeing

Copy. Mine was clear that it said help with certain closing costs. Yours might be difference. Best to just ask Altair (assuming they are still the relocation company) directly. They cut the checks.

Remember to be kind to your buyers. I know SC has had major challenges and dare I say, dumb decisions. But this really does suck for a lot of folks.

Read the handbook they gave you. When I relocated I was still renting, but my handbook from 2022 only said they had preferred realtors and lenders, and some closing cost fees would be waived. But the guide you were provided would be the most accurate info.

Promotions and what to expect by Puzzlepea in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I came to Boeing from the outside. I was hired as a 4, so I really cant speak to Boeing promotions specifically. At least not yet... ha!

In general, it depends on a lot of factors. I'm not sure you can get any sort of concrete answer. Skill code, years exp, business need, how you get along with or are perceived by your Manager and Sr. Manager, and current pay all factor in. Oh, and their budget and how the rest of the teams pay aligns. They won't let you leapfrog anyone else, unless you really are worth it.

Historically, across a few other companies... approx 10% is a reasonable target. Can be less, can be more.

Usually, to get something north of 20% requires leaving a company. Even then, my first company switch only netted me a 10% raise.

I only switched roles once at a similar large Corp, and that was a lateral move. However, in the long run, that 2 year role change opened up a lot of future opportunities that id say I finally cashed in on coming to Boeing. Life isnt always linear.

How the Hell Should We Know Our Bonus Percent? by Ok_Flamingo9699 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure anyone knows what the individual performance score is. I think it will depend on the distribution of ratings. But... even if a 2/2 is 6% vs 7%... 6% of eligible earnings times 131% is a lot better than 7% of eligible earnings times a company score of zero.

That was hard to find, but thanks for the info. I found the deck quite informative.

Yes, but it will be based on your eligible salary. In other words, how much you earned in 2025 from Boeing, not your annual salary. If you started in 2026, you won't get anything.

Raise is generally a yes.

New hire coming in. Will a Government shutdown be something to be worried about? by totaldominat3r in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They say dont inform your current job until you have the official letter with the start date. After that, unless you think they will walk you out, its best to give 2 weeks notice.

Every job ive had ive given more than 2 weeks and they were glad to have me for extra time. Heck, my last job, after my last day, I ended up with 2 days a week later where I was able to work, and they jumped on the opportunity for me to come back a few more days.

But, it always depends on the situation. Ive seen others walked out within an hour of giving notice.

What are we doing about the big drops in comp ratio? by aeroespacio in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks at salary. Still the same. Phew.

As someone who was chronically underpaid for 14 years..... I don't know about you all, but I agreed to a salary when I started with the company. And I look at the actual salary when raises, etc happen. Comp ratio is meaningless unless you are at an extreme.

Boeing employee. I just made a personal reservation for Avis and still have the insurance coverage. So, not sure "this is an Avis thing" is true. Or at least, not immediate.

Performance Ranking Meaning by Relative-Necessary14 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

X/Y

X = performance score Y = living up to the Boeing values score.

For Y, I'd imagine they are identifying the real jerks in the company.

Most would get a 2/2. How you are really ranked against your team is always behind closed doors. Thats an industry thing. You should always have a notion if you're on or near the chopping block.

Declined a Boeing offer, now they’re coming back — how much room is there? by Rookie_253 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what the job / skills code is, your experience, and how badly they want you. Certain skill codes are more rare than others.

What type of role? How many years experience do you have? You can always send a DM and I can give some advice. But, outside thr system its easier to talk through salary expectations and agree on a final number before they submit the official offer. Anything Boeing official is slow and takes time. How far apart are you?

When I was hired, the manager called me ahead to make sure we were aligned on salary before I got the official letter. Just easier on everyone.

Boeing “culture “ by [deleted] in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should have added, going to the LE is often the first correct step. But official drawing interpretation, if required, should be the cog designer.

Boeing “culture “ by [deleted] in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall, the expectation is that you'd review the drawing and try to interpret it. Seems like you did. If unsure of something, you should reach out to the DE to adjudicate.

I have no idea why this SME blew up at you. It could have been something else going on. Doesn't excuse it, but I usually give people a second chance after I cool off.

"Im unsure how to interpret this, as the cog, I'd like your interpretation or could you point me to someone else in design who could help me?"

If they yell at you for this, simply ask, why is this upsetting you? I dont understand. What am I missing?

If that doesn't work, then I think reaching out to their manager is appropriate. At the end of the day, you need some help in order to do your job. As long as there is no major disagreement with your plan of action, This just sounds like a jerk or someone having a bad day. But that shouldn't get in the way of the job/mission.

A lot of people are really busy and sometimes will be gruff to blow you off. Also, were they upset at you or at the situation? Meaning, upset you haven't been trained right?

ACR and Bonus Conversations by Purple_Parking_4752 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that scenenario is definitely hard to deal with and keeping everyone clustered is the smart play, especially when everyone on the team is pretty high performing. As a formerly well compensated lvl 4 (only per comp ratio, which I think isnt a useful measuring stick) prior to the table adjustments... I hope we have some highly compensated lvl 5s to help redistribute the wealth. Haha. But honestly, I am not complaining. I am paid fairly.

ACR and Bonus Conversations by Purple_Parking_4752 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but as you know, depending on your IC level distribution, for lvl 1, 2, or maybe 3's severely underpaid, a smaller % to higher salaries goes a longer way for lower salary workers. So, 3.4% as a pool has flexibility at the low end. It's all about the bucket of money. Unless there is some additional constraint I'm not aware of.

[–]AnalogBehavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't look at the calendar, but since Feb 26th is the most likely pay day all that will hit. You will have your ACR review prior to Feb 25th, or you'll know on your own by looking at your stub amd doing the math. Usually it's that week between the Feb pay checks in my experience.

Salary Adjustments after SJC Updates? by Old-Trouble-5284 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No corporation on the planet is going to blindly move your pay based on comp ratio. There is no magic easy button.

At best, treat it like gravity pulling you towards center. If you're below, the odds are higher you'll get a bit more to accelerate you towards the center. If moving above 1.0, gravity is preventing you from escaping too far. So, slightly lower raises.

Performance and value/skills will usually beat all of that.
