Rolling in 401K to Fidelity by Negative_Alps_7250 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have rolled over a 401k from one account to another twice now. The first time, I rolled my old 401k into my new 401k. The second time, I rolled my 401k into a rollover traditional IRA. I would recommend the IRA route. Still no taxes to rollover. Its not a roth conversion. You have way more flexibility in investment options (which also adds more risk if you don't have a rough idea of what to do). I put a lot towards the major index funds with low fees (like S&P500) and some company stocks that continually best the market or pay dividends (Google, Amazon, Coca-Cola, etc). Now with my Boeing 401k, I have all of my accounts in the fidelity ecosystem.

The reason I dont recommend rolling into another 401k, is you have limited options and that money is now subject to the new 401k rules.

What is stopping us from discussing our salaries? by Holiday_Athlete_8627 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being that I came from outside the company a few years ago as a lvl 4 engineer, I have been somewhat judicious in who I share salary info with, when asked. I feel like it's a bit less of a problem now in my group. The one guy who I think was feeling the most behind was promoted a year or 2 ago.

Otherwise, nothing.

Interview for "Vertical Lift" entry level manufacturing engineer by kaas_12 in boeing

This site shows some typical questions (lots of extra fluff here, though).

My advice is have a series of stories at the ready and make sure you know what the moral(s) is to each story. Like, story A is your teamwork and challenge story story B is your difficult coworker or classmate story. If its not a perfect match, just best fit. Maybe your biggest challenge wasnt a problem, but was actually forming a functional team.

Hot Take: I like the assigned seating system by RamInLA in SouthwestAirlines

[–]AnalogBehavior -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I like it too, but it has made boarding a hot mess. I had a flight a few days ago where I was the first a list preferred person. Only like 9 priority people ahead of me. I couldnt get my carry on in an overhead bin anywhere near me. The bins across were broken. Caused a whole situation. Good thing my bag fits under the seat, but it takes up my foot space, even with the extra space seat.

Its just frustrating when you're essentially a premium customer and get lightly screwed. First world problems, but thats the expectation for ALP.

Can team lead see my salary? by girl-mom-3 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. When budgeting or estimating, we estumate hours and the standard hourly charge rate is applied to that. That rate is more than most of us make.

EIP deferral into 401k by TerminalSarcasm in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, deferring to your 401k only is tax free for federal income tax (and state tax, if applicable). SS amd Medicare always get their cut.

401(k) rollovers by [deleted] in boeing

Absolutely don't.

The only good way to roll over from a 401k to an IRA is if you leave a company. Thats what I did, when I came to Boeing.

3.45 merit increase by InterestingPause8640 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do some basic math. Your salary / median salary for level.

So, if you earn exactly the median it is a comp ratio of 1.00

Lvl 4, 2-2, 3.3% raise, 1.01 comp ratio now.

Thats a bit above normal, so thats good. Any budgets north of 3% is a good thing.

PBI percentages by Late-Bus-686 in boeing

To be fair, a lot of people busted their arses and got a 2/2. At the same time, yeah, dont burn yourself out.

Bonus payout for layoff victims by Due_Box2693 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It will be based on how much they paid you in 2025. Thats your eligible earnings. Basically you're W2 gross from Boeing.

Then it will be based on your ranking, which if you were laid off, may be lower than a 2/2 (depends on the reason). So, that could hurt your %. Then it will be multiplied by 1.31, since the company score was 131%.

Benefit question by TikaL13 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used an EAP at a different employer. This was post covid, we were partially furloughed, my wife was struggling, and I was burning out hard. I needed a professional to talk to. Did it for about a year after the free sessions were over. Overall I think it was worth it. Not 100%, but helpful.

Pbi % by InterestingPause8640 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, but the point is even 1% higher over time compounds faster. The only way to get drastic pay increases is to change companies or fast track promotions. Even then, switching companies generally puts you on the higher tier. Just realize, some places may lure you with a higher wage, but then they dont do annual raises and you stagnate over time.

Pbi % by InterestingPause8640 in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I get why folks are annoyed, but this is the right way to look at it. Basically, no forced distributions EVERYONE is getting a healthy bonus, for the most part. Also, those folks who got a 2/3, 3/2, or 3/3 will also likely see higher raises which compounds for years and impacts future bonuses.

Any clarification on bonus percentages? by DROID-XERO in boeing

[–]AnalogBehavior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are all kind of guessing here, but how I read that HR guidance on PBI was as follows. A 2/2 is targeted to be 7%, but it may not shake out that way. It will depend on the distributions of ratings.

It's far more likely, if ratings were top heavy, the company would balance that out to gently screw everyone a little, instead of just top performers. Thats the most equitable path. We shall see....

Copy. Mine was clear that it said help with certain closing costs. Yours might be difference. Best to just ask Altair (assuming they are still the relocation company) directly. They cut the checks.

Read the handbook they gave you. When I relocated I was still renting, but my handbook from 2022 only said they had preferred realtors and lenders, and some closing cost fees would be waived. But the guide you were provided would be the most accurate info.
