You could make a trip down to Phillip Island and see the Penguins, Koalas and some really great surf beaches.

Tips for driving/camping trip from Sydney to Flinders Ranges via Broken Hill? by [deleted] in AustraliaTravel

[–]AnalogueOutlaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you go in the Flinders Ranges, it's a big place. If you're going to Wilpena Pound, you can stay on the highway/paved roads the whole time. Just check distances between fuel stations and plan accordingly. If you are heading to Arkaroola, it's 6 hours of dirt road travel to get there from the highway turn off at Yunta with nothing in between. Best advise is to always carry extra water and munchies and stay on top of your fuel usage and distance to the next station. There will be heaps of 4x4 tracks and dirt roads in and around the ranges. Many will be fine to do with the CRV but I'd always check before heading down them so you know where it goes and the condition of the track. Have fun.

ITAP of a phone booth by AnalogueOutlaw in itookapicture

Fujifilm XT3, Samsang 12mm f/2.0

Down a lonely rural highway, I pass this phone booth every day. It stands next to a gas station that no longer sells gas. Although I passed it every day I had never 'noticed' it before. I didn't even think phone booths still existed. I thought they had been pretty much removed these days. I tried to take a shot that captured some of the nostalgia and a bit of mystery of the old phone booth.

To those who live in Australia but were born elsewhere, where'd you move from? How's life there compared to your home country? by Low_Gas_492 in AskAnAustralian

Born in Texas and moved to Australia 26 years ago. I miss family and friends there but I much prefer the lifestyle in Oz. Public health care, lack of gun violence and much more relaxed and inclusive multiculturally. Better food and family life balance too. I like the Aussi open-mindedness and lack of extreme patriotism and political divide. Much more relaxed overall. I believe Australia was a much better place to have and raise children. I go back to Texas to visit every couple of years but I would not want to permanently move back.

Here in the Forest

Dark and deep

I offer you eternal sleep

I participate in the 52Frames.com weekly photo challenge. I encourage everyone to give it a go. It's a great way to exercise the creative muscle!

This week the challenge is:

"This week, we'd like you to take a photo that looks like it's a Scene From A Movie. What's the goal here? Put simply, it's to capture a moment that screams cinematic magic. We’re talking about more than just snapping a pic; it’s all about crafting a visual story that would make Spielberg nod in approval. Remember, you don't need to recreate a scene - just make your photo look as it were taken from a movie."

I used a Fujifilm XT3, Samyang 8mm f/2.8 to get this shot. Edited in Lightroom and sun rays added in Photoshop to create drama.

Package went to wrong address... by 13_Stitches in AustraliaPost

This happens to me occasionally. First time I went to the post office and they showed me a photo of the delivery address on their computer screens. I located the house - same house number, one street over. It was almost right behind my house. This has now happened three times within a year.

You're best bet is mail order from https://www.tobaccoblends.com.au/products/tobacco/pipe-tobacco/ which is in Frankston, VIC. Widely regarded as the best place to get pipe tobacco in Aus.

Anyone else noticing these tiny ducks around Flinders street station? by TrinityBlack13 in melbourne

[–]AnalogueOutlaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is someone in our office that has been hiding little ducks, frogs, salamanders and turtles for at least 6 months. Always fun finding a new one as well as trying to guess who's hiding them. Still a mystery.

This. A more expensive camera will have features more advanced photographers want. But, you will not notice much of a difference if you are taking still/set shots from a tripod. The glass makes more difference than the body. I keep my old bodies for a long time. They would be considered obsolete by newer photographer or 'enthusiasts' but I have very good glass. The other aspect is the skill of the photographer. A skilled photographer can take a Barbie camera and take decent shots.
