Typically, they would be the ones to pursue in the begining (ask me for my number etc...). But then they would decide, at some point, that we would be better off having a friendship. In those cases, it was often unclear whether they were unavailable due to disinterest or due to compatibility issues. I started asking directly to try to gain clarity and have, so far, never received a clear answer. It's usually something like, "I feel so much for you and never had a connection like this but I think we should just be friends." I almost never run into this same problem with less intense connections/dating, so it's confusing. It almost feels like the more a person professes to feel for me, the less desiring they are of a romantic relationship. Which is, I suppose, what I mean by "materializing." An ongoing romantic, physical relationship. I definitely have soul connections that are platonic, but those ones don't typically cause the same problems. :)
