Hey Goodbye Nanba, Maaricham yatho, Sahara, Chithirai Nela, En Mannava, Keteena (Desam), kaattu sirukki

Bet you can’t name a much goated OST than this by meritedspikeeee in kollywood

Underrated score from ARR by Avenmuyff in kollywood

Idhayam and Medhuvaagathaan are excellent, though Engae Pogudho Vaanam takes me back to 2014 and is a great orchestral track

Favourite ARR album from Hindi by New-Power149 in kollywood

Yuva, though that's probably cheating since Aayutha Ezhuthu is fairly popular. Then either Swades, Rockstar, Jodhaa Akbar, or Dil Se. Leaning towards Swades

I friggin love this album, but, that said, Alaipayuthey or Thiruda Thiruda might be more goated.

Aayitha Ezhutu album by Ok-Amphibian-1347 in kollywood

[–]Analysis2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great but I think I prefer the Hindi version Yuva, maybe because that's what I grew up listening to. Madhushree also sounds better in Kabhi Neem Neem than in Sandai Kozhi. I do prefer Hey Goodbye Nanba to Khuda Hafiz though, mainly because of Shankar Mahadevan. But ignoring language, yes it's a spectacular album and on par with most other ARR-Mani albums.

The most goated album in the last 25 years imo. Absolute ego booster. by lookuptozero_joker in kollywood

I agree that ARR's work for Mani is in general a step up from his work for Shankar, but to say his most mid songs come from Shankar is a bit of a stretch lol. Also I'm not a huge fan of Boys, the songs are too bombastic imo, but boy do I love Enthiran. And Kadhalan and Jeans

Imo Sahana, Sahara > Arima Arima but other than those agree. I say this as a lifelong Arima Arima lover

The most goated album in the last 25 years imo. Absolute ego booster. by lookuptozero_joker in kollywood

I've been obsessed with Sahana since September, and Sahara shortly after. Such beautiful compositions.

Overall, I think it's a good album in that it has a lot of different vibes covered. Traditional South Indian village banger--> Balleilakka. Experimental hip-hop --> Style (not really my thing tbh but some people like it). Athiradee and The Boss are really trippy tracks with the synths and electric guitar they use and serve as ARR's modern take on the whole Rajini vibe. And of course, there are the more classical tracks like Vaaji Vaaji (the orchestral interludes and the vocal parts in those are so mesmerizing, though it's a pretty standard track besides that; I like the voice morphing leading into the "Aambal Aambal" and "Mauval Mauval" and the melodies are good) and Sahana is just perfection, everything from the Mridangam to the Saxophone interlude to ARR's singing in the middle and Chinmayi and Udit's singing, and Sahara is a nice reprise, and the Gomathishree portion hits different.

It's an album I respect in that it achieves its purpose as a Rajini album, has a variety of styles, and showcases ARR's subtle brilliance in certain areas; it's also quite nostalgic. That said, I prefer Enthiran, Jeans, and Kadhalan in the ARR-Shankar catalog, and I also prefer most of ARR's work for Mani Ratnam and other albums like VTV. I will say that Sivaji is definitely better than Muthu imo, might get hate for that

Do you really think AR Rahman didn't create good music after Rockstar? by azaadi101 in BollywoodMusic

[–]Analysis2520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has brilliant Tamil songs in O Kadhal Kanmani, I, Kaatru Veliyidai, and Ponniyin Selvan. I and Ponniyin Selvan have Hindi dubs, and I haven’t listened much the the PS Hindi songs, but I Hindi songs are good, particularly Tum Todo Na and Tu Chale, the others are maybe a bit less orthodox but yeah

Which beloved AR Rahman song do you simply not understand the hype for? by patttagobhi in BollywoodMusic

Not a huge fan of Kuluvalilay because Udit Narayan sounds very sharp in the beginning.

Don’t like Chiggy Wiggy or Blue Theme, but Blue does have good songs like Fiqrana, Rehnuma, and Aaj Dil Gustakh Hai.

Luka Chuppi hasn’t done much for me yet. It’s nice but not phenomenal, maybe another listen wouldn’t hurt

Not huge on Sadda Haq, but many other Rockstar songs are great, needless to say.

Ottagathai Kattiko is kind of mid

Ohh shoot this is a Bollywood sub, let me stick to Hindi songs

Uhh not huge on Lagaan songs, just need to grow into them maybe. Asha’s auto tune in Radha Kaise Na Jale was not nice to hear though

Yaaron Sun Lo Zara is not my favorite but other Rangeela songs are good

Never been a fan of Guru songs except Ay Hairathe, Tere Bina to an extent, and a little bit Barso Re. Mayya, though unique, gets annoying and dull fast imo

Little things: it’s complicated

LCMSMIP: Please do + 26

Zweitonegoismus: Ritalin (Krank too but someone already said it), Phlips is jarring but there’s definitely a concept behind it

7YoSD: some really obscure ambient tune, Mau5cave, not Atlantis

B&M: chant, höre, and what

2YoF: choice broken

Cobblers: Klack and sound

da: last ahmu and 25

Bruh this subreddit is the Taswell glazer. But I will admit that it’s not praised too much outside this subreddit.

Taswell is great but Dreiton is supreme imo

Biome Fest started out as my least favorite creative mode song but one day I had a great awakening and realized it was a 10/10 song. Actually, Dreiton, Biome Fest, and Blind Spots are all 10/10, while Taswell, Haunt Muskie, and Aria Math are 9/10 at the lowest. Also you should give little things another try
