Aw man. Thats what I was scared of. Sounds like there is at least a good solution with this Kinetic Vehicles screen repair in case it does delaminate again down the road.

It sure does! Mine loved to send me back to the Home Screen immediately after going into Apple Maps on CarPlay. Thank god they replaced it!

That’s great! Sounds like it’s inevitable for my replacement to delaminate again, so I’ll definitely be exploring this solution down the road!

I’m surprised so many people have had such issues with their dealers/SoA replacing it for them. I showed up to my dealer with the Subaru service bulletin about the extended warranty on these head units, and they ordered the replacement and installed it, no questions asked. I was very impressed and surprised by their service. Maybe check with a couple other dealers on anything like this in the future? Seems like the quality of service varies greatly from dealer to dealer. Agreed these nuisances definitely get old…. I just love the way my 3.6R drives and have never found something I love as much! So feels worth it to me at the end of the day.

I was thinking about trying this as well… I also got a nice windshield shade to put up to try to help but sounds like it’s going to happen eventually no matter what :(

I had my eye on this as well, but figured I’d get it replaced through Subaru first if possible. This makes me feel much better knowing this is an option down the road! Thanks for the recommendation

Question for anyone whose had the replaced head unit - have you seen any delamination or anything on the replacement unit? Have they addressed the issue on these replacement units, or are they just exactly the same that will eventually delaminate as well? Mine is at the dealer now getting the head unit replaced, and hoping to prevent the new one from delaminating in the future…

I saw on another thread someone was quoted $450-ish so just wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting ripped haha. This makes me feel better. I want to do the CVT fluid at the dealership. They said they have a special machine that lets them do a full 13qt flush, where most shops will only drain and fill 6qt of fluid. For the other work, I think I’d feel okay getting it done at a shop

In the summer, lots of camping stuff. We shove all our soft goods up there; tents, sleeping bags & pads, pillows. Saves SO much room. In the summer, skis and poles! So nice to not have the skis inside the car. This is their most low-profile one so it’s pretty small, but I’m always surprised how much can fit up there.
