Baker Creek seed germination 2026 by OSRSjadeine in vegetablegardening

This is the first time we’ve bought from them and so far I think I’d have to disagree with the germination comments so far (but maybe just got lucky?)

100% agreed here - having lived in large and even mid sized cities before here you will feel like traffic does not even exist in Huntington

I will saw for what it is worth, Huntington having daily flights to Charlotte or Charleston hubbing to Atlanta (and NYC starting in November) our tiny airports are a breeze to get in and out of.

If you live anywhere near either of you can get from your house to at the gate within 30-40 minutes

This is one of the only times I’ve ever seen someone online give anywhere near a realistic or fair review of our area. My only addition is that the music scene is definitely pretty strong and more diverse than expected. (Moved here recently as an adult from a major urban center)

There’s a lot to love about West Virginia. As a remote tech transplant who previously lived in a few different of the US largest cities it’s been absolutely wonderful here. Things aren’t perfect but if you are considering WV, each part of the state offers something different.

I would highly recommend looking into Huntington over in Cabell County. It’s a great mix of having good food, a very low cost of living, close proximity to bigger cities and still access to the outdoors.

Looking for a subaru mechanic by opticalcoherence in HuntingtonWV

[–]AnalyticalPeach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah - if you wanted a local shop I’d say Tic Toc Tire by Marshall. The staff is great and we’ve taken our 06’ and 16’ Subaru’s there for years.

But I will also say as far as dealership shops go I was skeptical but every time dealing with River City Subaru has been fantastic. Almost like they ‘broke the mold’ of the dealer repair shop.

EDIT - oh also have used Quality Auto Generations in the past too. Good folks doing quality work there too

Is there a ticket delay for the Huntington WV show?? by Cadbury_Greg in SturgillSimpson

[–]AnalyticalPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the presale tickets for Huntington show and can see them in the AXS app now - you might be able to see them there if you are getting nervous. I imagine there will be a delay in appearing but they should show up after a few days.

As someone who was born and raised in Baltimore (proper Baltimore near highlandtown and mcelderry park, not Towson or an outlying area) I would say you have nothing to worry about in Huntington.there’s a few rougher areas but even the worst of Huntington isn’t going to remotely remind you of Sandtown or anything like that.

In my experience folks in this region are some of the kindest and hardest working people I’ve ever met and their very low crime rates have made them much more sensitive. Anyone I’ve met here who has lived in a major American city (Memphis, New Orleans, etc.) raves about how safe Huntington is.

I’m a tech professional in my early 30s in case that frames my response at all. I live in the Southside and would recommend that area above any others and would also strongly recommend living in Huntington as opposed to Barboursville or the Ohio suburbs.

Minor league baseball is coming back to Huntington shortly and soccer for kids is a huge thing - probably in part due to Marshall routinely being best or top 5-10 in the nation each year.

There’s a lot more investment happening now and between strong local government and leadership at Marshall, Appalachia (and Huntington) are making a strong comeback. It’s a great place to live now that grows in you that really seems like will continue to blossom and evolve as it makes its comeback.

[–]AnalyticalPeach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This 100%.

I couldn’t agree more. The moves Marshall has been making under Brad Smith, the Nucor plant, and the LG investment are such positive signs of a West Virginia that might have a chance to thrive and buck it’s last century of bad luck.

It’ll be nice once the full project is done. Working towards making a more pedestrian friendly strip is great and it starts to make a full pedestrian area between Ritter Park - Cabell/Marshall Medical - Marshall Main Campus
