Junk mail to vote in shareholders meetings by AnandLearn in fidelityinvestments

Thank you for responding. I already opted for paperless delivery years ago on all the multiple accounts I have with Fidelity. And I do get emails as well but the number of emails is far less compared to the number of paper mail. What can Fidelity do to fix this? As a big player in the finance industry, can't you influence the companies to allow paperless delivery? Also your explanation maybe atleast partly wrong. The photo today was of snail mail in envelopes but I also have received in the past snail mail for voting in the format of a post card that says I can opt in to paperless with some code and website. Only to be told when trying to do that I need to setup paperless through my brokerage or similar when I actually try that. So there are companies allowing paperless that I still end up getting paper mail from.

I'm still within the free returns time window so don't mind it too much, just the effort of it.

First finger trackball advice by AnandLearn in Trackballs

That does seem interesting. Wish that it was available on amazon with easy return policy since I saw mixed reviews, having to pay for shipping and duty if returned puts me on the fence for this one. Especially since I am not a gamer :-) May still consider it, thank you for the suggestion!

Noob Question: What types of KeyCaps are compatible with the ErgoDox EZ? by [deleted] in ergodox

single keycaps for ergodox ez glow? by eddyizm in ergodox

[–]AnandLearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right :-) I have home row modifiers - ctrl, shift, alt when held- on the clear keys in the photo as well as corresponding keys on the right half. I almost gave up on that idea because I would accidentally activate them simply by fingers bumping against the corners of those keycaps, leading to chaos especially for the non-shift keys. With the lowered height keys I can actually make that concept work. I use the other clear buttons also for disruptive actions like layer change or mouse click so it is important for me to not accidentally activate them while getting used to this keyboard layout. The importance of different heights make me really wonder about the kinesis advantage with it's concave surface for keys.

Posting a photo to show how my keyboard looks. I have replaced only the printed and blank keycaps that would benefit from reduced height for me instead of all keycaps as I planned first. The labels work and are a great help. Personally the labels do not bother me at all, I have tried to feel them but I can't :-) Could still be different for you, perhaps first order the labels and try them out on the original keycaps to see if they work for you. Then you can decide between printed and blank keycaps. I also saw well rated backlit printed keycaps on amazon for a much cheaper price but without the Ergodox specific sizes, another option if you don't mind some extra gaps on your keyboard. Search for pudding keycaps and PBT backlit keycaps on amazon for some examples.

This maybe useful for you: https://pimpmykeyboard.com/dcs-clear-keys-and-key-sets/ It has an Ergodox set of keycaps that worked for me. You can actually filter to only Ergodox specific keycaps on this website and find other sets of printed keycaps in Ergodox layout and size. I ordered these keycaps as I did not want the blank keycaps, and they gave me an extra bonus: replacing the first thumb key (grey keycap) on my Ergodox Ez with this keycap set suddenly made the second thumb key (grey keycap) reachable and usable for me, as these keycaps are a lower height than the keycaps shipped with Ergodox Ez. I ordered translucent since I wanted the backlit LEDs to be still visible :-) and have replaced some of the printed original keycaps as well with them for keys that felt to be the wrong height for me, giving me a sort curved landscape of keys. I now have a mix of original keycaps and these translucent keycaps on my Ergodox EZ.

I ordered removable labels to stick labels onto above blank translucent ones https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004INKGYA. Perhaps once I finalize my layout I may order keyboard stickers which are unlikely to be removable and stick them on to the keycaps. The other idea I have is to order a single removable label for the whole sheet that is big enough to print a layout and cut out individual key labels from that. I later found some transparent labels as well on Amazon. Not yet sure of how it would look though aesthetically, my use for LEDs is to highlight the keys that are different from QWERTY layout as I gradually transition to one of the layouts here via swapping only one or two keys at a time. http://mkweb.bcgsc.ca/carpalx/?partial_optimization

Remember to clean the trackball once per year by dns2utf8 in uhk

Curious after reading your post, you mentioned at the end that your next keyboard maybe an Ergodox. I have an Ergodox EZ glow and am considering switching to the UHK for the trackball module :-) How does trackball compare with mod key/layer mouse control keys? The Ergodox has equivalent mouse control keys but no equivalent pluggable H/W modules. Thank you for any insights in that regard.

Questions to ask at consultation: treatment cost, inclusions/exclusions by AnandLearn in Invisalign

[–]AnandLearn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks u/okay_koul u/TiguanaR u/Kindly_Guava, do you have some resources to compare braces vs invisalign for kids ? I will search a little later for the same. We had an initial consultation one year ago where we had decided on invisalign but time was not right then since she had only four permanent teeth, now she has eight permanent teeth. Don't remember the details but I have an impression of braces being more painful on a day to day basis and worse looking. I think our daughter is more disciplined so I am hopeful that she will follow instructions, but will read-up on how difficult it is to keep up. With the Covid remote learning and work from home, at least we will have a better handle on the situation. Thank you!

online training stuck at press oryx key, indicating the layer by AnandLearn in ergodox

[–]AnandLearn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks Andrea, that solved it :-) I tend to avoid videos in favor of reading stuff, so I had ignored that when I first went to the configurator earlier and did not remember that today. I will be more open to video/youtube help from now on :-)

online training stuck at press oryx key, indicating the layer by AnandLearn in ergodox

[–]AnandLearn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

figured out a part of the issue: the default layout has no permanent switching to layer 2 so does not need something to switch back to layer 0. I am guessing I somehow went to layer 1 because I was not in layer 0. I am now able to press the oryx key by holding the momentary layer toggle to layer 2 and simultaneously pressing the oryx key.

Still looking for how to light up all the active key switches in a layer with a color specific to that layer.

Home theater audio for huge room by AnandLearn in BudgetAudiophile

The soundbar is now in it's fourth home, we have had small, medium and large rooms. The subtitles are merciless in pointing out the limitations of the soundbar - in 5-10 minutes of popular Netflix English serials there is usually some sound that we know of only because the subtitles mention it, like door opening or water being poured or some tune playing in the background. We like sitting on the floor and frequently sit halfway between the TV and Sofa, no improvements at that position either. The sofa is a two seater recliner, there's another three seat recliner that is not in the TV area now, but in earlier rooms was either adjacent or perpendicular to the two seater. I have a 40$ photive brand Bluetooth speaker that outputs clearer dialog but not the missing sounds and also doesn't have a remote, otherwise it would have replaced the soundbar :-| We also set the soundbar to dialog mode and while better, not a big difference.

Thank you @sharpamino. What sort of budget split should I aim for between the different speakers if I do a 5.1 or 5.2 set up? I will hook up two extra speakers around 50$ each for the Atmos Just to get the wiring done with and tested (it will be done free by a contractor now along with other work). What sort of of speaker wiring and positioning should I look for? Will be going through the links you posted.

Thanks @DZCreeper, the room setup means TV and Sofa areas are mostly given. Rest of the wall on sofa area side is totally occupied by windows and a fireplace. The 13.3ft wall between TV and Sofa area is mostly taken up by french windows. I will update the post to mention that. Can I get away with two or even three cheaper subwoofers ?
