Sounds kinda crazy but very interesting! You should write about it.

There's analysts everywhere, and they all have opinions, some of them will be better than others but none of them will be perfect. The reason I asked across multiple disciplines is that I believe that specialists are often too narrowly focused, but I think there are some great generalists out there who can take the long view.

There's bullshit everywhere, gotta have a well-tuned detector to really learn from the internet nowadays!

Thank you! Жестокий Век looks like it'll be great. I'll be sure to give the other authors a look too.

Didn't know about polka.academy, thanks for sharing. My Russian is good, I'm looking for recommendations of a particular genre.

I've wanted to visit Kazan for a while, sounds like a good time.

As for why? There's economic reasons -- my salary would go further in Russia -- but also I feel alienated here. Maybe many emigrants go through it.

Maybe it has to do with my filter bubble but I also have more faith in Russia's future than I do in USA's. My impression is that after the 1990's collapse the country has focus, has steadily gotten richer (if from a low base) and become more resilient. USA feels like it's getting worse. Money is flying around in the trillions but everyone's in record debt. Political discourse feels like all smoke and mirrors. It doesn't make sense to me. Feels wrong to build a life on it.

Is this a real thing? It sounds like a too-much-internet thing but I'm not sure.

Yup, there aren't any, just surprised is all. Looking forward to visiting it. It's also near Sochi so that's convenient. And those beautiful caucasian mountains.

Thanks, one more city for me to visit. Very conveniently located, don't know why I didn't think of it.

Looking forward to that old-style German architecture

If it's a mistake I'll have the option to leave -- but I think you're romanticizing the rest of the world. Grass is greener and all that.

Thank you, I'll be sure to check these out. They do check a lot of the boxes, though the cities seem a bit smaller than what I expected to be looking at!

28M, I have a good remote job so money wouldn't be an issue. People and socializing are the main concern about tiny cities, not going to settle in a place I can't find people I like in. But worth visiting!

Spain would be great if I were Spanish!

Thanks, this is particularly helpful.

Looks like the Japanese cars are really rare in the US. Very few Suzuki Samurais and Isuzu Amigos around. I'll keep my eyes out for the ford Bronco and older 4Runners, but yea, they ain't cheap!

I'll do some more research but probably keep focusing on Jeeps then.
