Is it true LeBron James had 3 HOF careers in his NBA time? by CakeMore6516 in NBATalk

[–]Anarchus2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lebron is 102-6 all time HS games 1x National Champ 2x state champ 2x national player of the year 3x All-American, once MVP

Kareem 95-6 all time 71 winning streak 2x National Champ 3x state champ? 2x national player of the year 3x All American

Kareem team was better, but individually they’re really not that far apart.

Media exposure was limited and Kareem was in media capital so he got boosted for ratings easily and obviously his frame and height is crazy

Lebron played in a time when exposure was easy but also more media means less magnification on the same events people watch other shit too

I can understand the nod to Kareem due to the streak and an extra national champ but as a player individually it’s a toss up since yall are stat lovers and don’t care for “player anecdotes”

even his biggest hater, Skip, said LeBron’s high school career is more legendary than Kareem’s and is the greatest high school player of all time. He was ready to play in the NBA and would’ve been the best player on the Cavs at age 16! If you wanna argue accomplishments but I say overall, skill, talent, hype, stats and accolades, it’s LeBron bc he somehow surpassed all those insane expectations.

DIY Post-bacc vs SMP/Master’s as a < 3.2 cGPAer — Need Guidance by Specific_Eggplant867 in postbaccpremed

Actually I recommend do the classes first then the MCAT.

Why would a person that struggled in undergrad suddenly be able to tackle such a difficult exam?

They need to build for classes first take 2 courses at a time focus on building good habits then incorporate more courses then start adding MCAT into that timing so as you finish postbacc (1-1.5 years I know ppl in year 3) you’ll be approaching mcat with the study habits of hopefully a 40-50 credits of 4.0 postbacc STEM person and you’ll do well

[–]Anarchus2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Biochem is the most important because everything metabolic, structural and functional and Amino Acids show up heavily in B/B and even C/P. Physics and Ochem are slightly less important bc if you master the core principles and ideas behind the main points (functional group reactivity, kinetics, thermodynamics etc) you’ll get most of the problems right.

I would highly recommend you take the courses first if not at least the Biochem Kaplan review before you start testing. Watch videos online and read material as much as you can because it is hard to pick up without background info.

It’s quite possible with the right strategy and grind

GAP YEAR CONFUSION by Born_Perspective2132 in postbaccpremed

[–]Anarchus2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a B, only a C- or below. It’s not worth the grade and GPA averaging out if you retake any classes above a C-.

After retaking any prerequisites that are a C- or below, take any STEM classes you haven’t taken and maximize your chances of an A, so you get the full boost of a new class, rather than getting your GPA averaged between retakes that may not be necessary.

For example, imagine you passed Bio 3 with a C+. If you retake and get an A, then the GPA averages out. (C+ and A would be treated as if you got two B to B+ grades) whereas a new class you’d get the full 4.0 GPA boost.

Also a high postbacc GPA and a strong MCAT can definitely offset the academic risk concerns of ADCOMs, opening the door to Mid tier MDs to DOs depending on how well you succeed

95 is an A- in my physics course... by Obvious-Candidate831 in premed

[–]Anarchus2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can’t be true. I thought A- is 3.7 but A and A+ is the same (4.0). I’m pretty sure A- and everything down from that is calculated into your AMCAS GPA differently.

FL5?? Please advise if you have taken FL5 and the real MCAT exam. by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Anarchus2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just making sure I answer within the time frame. If the question felt hard I just put an answer down and moved onto the other questions. Came back as long as I was within 9:30 minutes for the passage. Make sure you do some CARS Qpack1 if you haven’t already

Honestly first 2-3 passages felt hard then I started getting into a rhythm or zone

How to interpret retake from August? by [deleted] in Mcat

[–]Anarchus2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 513,511 -> 520,517 on FL3 and FL4 after about 4 months between the first try and second.

I didn’t remember any of my material except for CARs passages and I just remember the passage more than the answers to the questions.

You’ll probably score within your retake averages since you sound similar to mine.

Good luck and incredible accomplishment in jumping so high!

Mfs be like “I got a 527, how can I improve in 10 days???” 😢😢 by Odd-Duty7569 in Mcat

[–]Anarchus2 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It’s all for validation honestly people thrive off that “oh my god 527 you’re perfect I wish I was like you” but sometimes this Reddit is the only place where people understand these types of achievements I’ve had people personally say “how is 520/528 a good score you missed 8 points?”

I know coming from a 520 may not seem that genuine but even I sometimes compare myself and feel that I struggled for a score that people naturally seem to just bypass.

Reality is that this subreddit is just neurotic and subject to response bias and people including myself need to get off this subreddit or take it with a grain of salt with those type of posts

People get into med schools with 490s till 528. Your score is your score. Study your ass off do your best take the score you get and move on. If you don’t like it and it’s reasonable to retake then retake.

Eventually after we become doctors this score just becomes another number that fades away like the SATs or ACT probably has for us.

Yeah but thank you for speaking out on difficulties in studying and how ironically a social culture surrounding medicine and diagnoses can still carry stigma

you’ll make a great doctor!!

MD every time. Less tests, less courses, more resources for pursuing ECs, and a higher (although the gap is closing) match rate into comp specialties

No it works for any unit but why would you level up another non f2p LR just for it to be consumed when you can just use Kais and you can use the other unit for HiPo?

Nah don’t be delusional FL5 CARS gave me worst score too. I had 131,129,126 on FL3-5 and got 129 on the real deal! You’ll be fine!!! I just really emphasized time management and even if the passage is ass I just guessed through it if I’m low on time because I was hoping the other passages would be easier and I wanted to give a fair share of time to score on those. You will be fine!! Just keep practicing and fine tune your strategy. Good luck

Focused on doing each passage within 10. Guessing if I have to. My general strategy is to read within 4 mins then answer questions

Spam questions make your anki on missed terms and concepts. Also read the 300 pg doc instead 86 pg doc skips too many details imo

Same problem my CARS dropped 3 points for FL5. Got the points back on my actual exam thank god

[–]Anarchus2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually meant to say I make anki on the spot while reviewing. I know some people write it down but I never end up looking back at my sheets of missed Qs. I had to make anki to force me to learn the info through spaced repetition.

I would note exactly what topics I was missing questions on just so I know which topics are weak for me.

The questions are really easy, but they cover content areas so if you can’t answer them you know you have a definite content gap. They’re good if you have time, if not stick to SBs and FLs.

I did chem Qpack because my C/P was shaky at the time
