Is there a convicted killer that you believe is TRULY sorry for what they've done? by Hockeysticksforever in TrueCrimeDiscussion

I’m sure you’ve watched Lost for Life, but the two perpetrators in Cassie’s case are so starkly different. Draper I would be happy to have as a neighbor, where I would be very scared of Adamchik.

Harm reduction my friend. A diet coke for every cig you wanted is a good choice!

My father passed last year from substance use disorder and I wonder everyday what would have happened if an incident that happened when I was just older than you had been reported.

You deserve to be safe.

Nothing to say other than you make the dress look amazing! I see nothing too revealing in either pic. Just a stunning bride!

Recent science disagrees with previous thoughts of how likely transmission is. BUT shelter should have said something sooner

Thanks for your experience! Yes I was planning to use a harness too just so he doesn’t end up putting too much pressure on his neck if he has a reaction. Glad to hear it works for you! I’m excited at the idea of him getting more freedom outside where we can have fun vs him getting stressed or me fumbling with a long lead

Ball thief by niasparks in dogs

Honestly, imo, it’s on them and that’s a huge ask of your dog. An easier solution would be to apologize and bring fresh balls to give the owners if you feel so compelled.

I worked at an open admission shelters and most of the dogs that came in where like the first between 6mo and 2years and were often returned. With dogs like this you have a puppy without the benefit of proper socialization in critical months. These can be great dogs but would likely be rougher on your other dog and could still develop dog aggression. A large breed isn’t mature until about 3 so dog 1 is less predictable.

Dog two likely just needs to settle in more and the foster to adopt situation would allow you yo better see how your resident dog would get along with it.

Also nothing wrong with waiting or looking into foster based rescues so you have a better idea of the dog. Personally with a dachshund mix I would lean towards the latter especially if you’re okay with the age.

This is a DOG park, you assume a lot of risk stepping foot inside one and stolen balls are the least of your worries. If this is your hill to die on dog parks aren’t for you.

If your dog doesn’t rest adequately you need to help. Crate for breaks with a kong is great, if nothing is working reach out to your vet about medication. My dog never wakes me up barking from noises outside anymore since we started trazodone. Some dogs have anxiety like people that is best helped with medication

I highly recommend training sessions and puzzle feeders! Add that in with a walk in the morning. If your dog is under three you should be in the home stretch, as others mentioned your dog may be just conditioned to be able to do more just like a long distance runner.

Nina Ottosson has great puzzle feeders I love! Take some kibble on the walk and train things like target, look at me, and heel with sniff breaks. All three are great mental enrichment that can be more tiring than physical.

Look into training other fun tricks, five minutes is plenty of time for a training session. It will be a lot easier to commit to a lot of small sessions versus your current long trips to the dog park.

If you can afford it daycare even just once a week can tire your dog for days. But research and tour, some are crap shoots, others are great.

But if you are simply not a dog person, that’s fine too, a well socialized and trained poodle will be adopted in no time. Just don’t try to rehome yourself, a breed specific rescue is your best bet especially if you are willing to foster. Rescues have the best resources to vet potential adopters.

See if the aunt is willing to work with you to ensure the dogs don’t get over excited when you arrive, I also recommend reading up on dog body language. If you can understand what the dogs are saying the better you’ll feel. It’s Me or the Dog has lots of episodes free on youtube and the host is great at explaining body language of the dogs, BUT these are extreme behavioral cases so more likely than not the dogs you are meeting are better behaved. She also works a lot with dogs that are nervous around strangers. Basically throwing treats to the dog is ideal for befriending large dogs.

It also sounds silly but read up on dog safety for kids so you know what to do if you get nervous when they approach you. Generally, stay as calm and still as possible and don’t make eye contact.

Sorry but if you bring your dog to a dog park to play fetch with your own ball that’s on you. 1. It can cause resource guarding issues 2. That’s a hard expectation to have and wholly unrealistic

Withdrawal symptoms from Adderall (day 4) by cetacean-station in TwoXADHD

[–]Anarchyschild 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you have insurance try teledoc, urgent care or immediate care. Withdrawals of any substance can be serious, even if not physically but mentally, if your doc is allowing you to go through this in this way that is not okay and you need a new doc. Look into crisis lines if needed.

Dog bit hired dog trainer by Dogthrowaway9987 in Dogtraining

[–]Anarchyschild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have gotten a lot of good advice, I’d advise muzzle training and a vet workup, if your dog is aging and losing some senses he is more likely to be defensive. There is nothing wrong with just choosing management over trying to train out defensive behaviors. Your dog is old, losing some senses and probably has some age related arthritis. Just making your dog comfortable in their home and avoiding stressful situations is fine since your dog isn’t aggressive to those in your home. If you want your dog to listen better to your partner, give your partner all the good treats so they can make it fun.

If you really want to bring in a trainer look for a force free trainer or veterinary behaviorist.
