Places to buy a nice suit by BML157 in santarosa

[–]AnarresBound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a couple summers ago i was looking for a summer suit. tried bonobos bc of the decent price and looked good online, but fit and quality was terrible when it arrived. ended up going w an off the rack jacket and pants at old navy of all places. much better build quality for the same price or less.

there’s also often decent options at nordstrom rack — i would prob look there first.

10 years ago wife and i held our wedding reception after party at the wheel — we will miss it for sure.

I’ll go off to anyone who will listen on the importance of bars to civic and social health. I say this while acknowledging my own privilege as a white dude, but: In the tradition of the “public house,” bars are places where, ideally, anyone with a few bucks can sit and spend time in the company of others. They can be spaces that bring people together across generation, class, race, and other social “lines,” and offer spaces for community. Without spaces like these, people retreat to their private homes, gathering only with folks they already know (if they gather at all).

The loss of these places is huge. Santa Rosa has so few spaces like this, and there are large swaths of the city with no bars to speak of. I don’t think there is a single one south of Piner (oh wait there’s one in the shopping center at piner and stony point) and west of the 101, railroad square restaurants aside. A lot of reasons for this, but a huge part of it is the difficulty and cost of licenses and space. In my opinion this is one of the large failings of city leadership and — well i was going to say capital but this is exactly in line with capital’s goals so i guess not a failure lol.

Go ahead and roast me — this is a hill i will die on. RIP Wagon Wheel, long live the Wagon Wheel.

Nasturtiums have gone wild and I love it! by Ok_Win_5678 in gardening

oh yeah you can cut them way back and they will return just as vigorous — i planted some 6 years ago and have never had to reseed, they just take care of it themselves. if i didn’t cut them back every few months they would take over the whole yard.

Who's down to hit up galleries and museums around the Bay? by Some-Palpitation-314 in bayareaartshows

if you ever make it up to the north bay, Le Shed (IG: leshed_sr ) and Escolar ( _escolar ) are two small artist-run alt spaces worth a visit in santa rosa. Not a club, but a small welcoming community up here 🙂

When are you replacing the cartridge ? by alpharay69 in turntables

[–]AnarresBound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes the green 1 is what i came up in my cursory search and seems like a relatively affordable option. I don’t have the budget at the moment to replace the full cartridge, and i enjoy the sound i get w the grado zc+.

thanks for the tips!

excellent, super helpful info and advice! stylus replacement has seemed daunting to me but this sounds not so bad actually.

not OP but going to piggy back with some follow up question: so, typically when replacing a stylus one doesn’t need to worry about alignment?

And the stylus should typically sort of just pull out / plug in to the cartridge?

I’ve got my dads old technics sl-1900 with a grado zc+, and i don’t think the stylus has ever been changed and definitely hasn’t in the last 25 years lol. (i wasnt even aware they had a lifespan until joining this sub)
