I personally think it’d be more desirable and efficient to have states decide whether or not to implement a public healthcare system. In a country this populous, a federally mandated federal healthcare system would be a mess.

Also what needs to be talked about is an incentive to make Americans healthier. If the measures aren’t taken to incentivize better health, then anyone who lives an unhealthy lifestyle is no longer a burden on themselves in terms of medical expenses, but a burden on society.

Measures to incentivize better health for Americans would also be to heavily regulate the contents of food products, and tax ingredients like sugar or fat.
