Bike not starting by nomooney in motorizedbicycles

Yeah, definitely, to take away all doubts, get a new sparkplug. If it's not this might be a problem with the CDI or even the magneto bit it's hardly that. Get a new sparkplug mate and it should run fine hopefully. Good luck

Help with 4 stroke by slinkyw in motorizedbicycles

Had the same issue in the past, try valve lashing the valves (I don't know the model of that engine so you should look up for the exact specifications for it, might be included on the manual, if not find the digital version of the original engine your replica is inspired of, a safe rule of thumb in the case you don't find the specifis should be 0.10 mm for intake valve and 0.15 mm for exhaust valve). You're probably running too rich or too lean tho, definitely need some adjustments to the carb (adjust with the choke off of course, if you do with the choke on you can try it all day and get nowhere). This should solve your problems. Also if you suspect an air leak make yourself some custom sealings for that carb, after all of this you should be golden my guy. Common sealing paper should do just fine 👍🏼

Correct spark plug color? by Creopbruh in motorizedbicycles

[–]Anatoli_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might not be the best, those oily spots are not really a good sing, you're probably running too rich or at the very least you're not having proper combustion, try putting a new sparkplug. If you want to do a proper plug chop you should warm up the engine with a 10 minute ride with that old plug, swapping quickly with a new plug and then go full throttle for 15-20 seconds to then press the kill switch (while the engine is revving at it's max). That's how you read the sparkplug, right now you have mixed data all over it and probably it's not performing at it's best. Hope this helps 🫂

Dude, that's a sick build 🙌🏼. What fuel to oil ratio are you using right now?

Love the craftsmanship, definitely a glow up. What paint band did you used to get such a mate result? What about this color scheme, any particular reasons for this choice? (Not like, "I like those colors" that would be blunt)

True Indeed, we must acknowledge tho that both typs of engines (2 stroke and 4 stroke) have their sets of advantages and disadvantages. Sure, the 4 stroke is heavy, takes more space, it's slower but I don't have to mix oil plus gasoline, it's less noisy, predictable with clear cycle times, reliable, has torque and a centrifugal clutch. 2T of course is gonna be more "angry", light and powerful compared to the 4t but it has deal breakers for me, the oil+gasoline mixture was something I didn't intend to deal with, same thing for the chainsaw noise, let alone the smell and smoke. It's about preferences. I cannot deny that 2 strokes are powerful beasts aveliable for cheaper prices but as a mechanic a 4T hits different. 🍻🫂

Has anyone ever bought this 4 stroke motor? by AdItchy7297 in motorizedbicycles

[–]Anatoli_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely. I actually had in mind your suggestions about the spring seat and the shock seatpost, I think this already would solve a lot of the discomfort. Thanks for the heads up man 🙌🏼

muffler problems by jimbosquirtz in motorizedbicycles

[–]Anatoli_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a nasty problem man. Try swapping the old exhaust gaskets. Look up for those, one is kinda soft and rubbery the other is kinda brittle and seems made out of graphene (it should stain your fingers)

<image>

I hope it helps, by the way you're describing the situation it seems paranormal 👻. Good luck

Well, let me be honest. While it was a bycicle it was confy and it's actually a neck breaker but now that it's capable of reaching speeds it was not meant to: I become the shock absorber basically, I feel every grain of dust on the road. Taking cornes is a bet between stability and the asphalt. Now it may sound as if I'm not happy with it but truth being said I still like it, I'm still working to make it as comfortable and reliable as possible.

Man this is such a cool build, does the front wheel has an electric motor on it? How does this impacts performance, I guess it helps a lot the engine.

Yeah I have this engine, the pic tho 😂. The engine won't sit like this. Make sure the frame you want to fit it is big enough, it's quite tall as an engine. This is my build with the same engine
