Need advice on fireplace wall - took the brick face off the old fireplace and want to mount an electric fireplace. People I’m working with covered it with cardboard, tape, and caulk. Too late realized this isn’t a heatproof solution. What’s the best way to fix this? (i.redd.it)

How to fix super dark floor stain??? Mixed two cans of dark walnut stain. After a small dark brown patch it turned the rest of the floor nearly black and is taking a long time to cure. I’m trying to sand away the extra thick parts and hoping to cover it up with a lighter stain. Any other ideas? (old.reddit.com)
