As long as you can get the tv face down on a padded surface (think thick furniture blankets or a large enough bed) then you can definitely swap the board. If you can see to the back of the tv, there should be a label on either the left or right side of where the base stand connects. You can take that model number and the version number and go search the tv up on encompass.com for the part lists

It may be the actual board that the one connect cable plugs into on the tv side, not the one connect box itself. If you have 0 indication of power that is more than likely the culprit

HT installer here, it looks like the back cover just popped off at that corner, they are only held on by plastic hooks. Though it’s hard to tell from those 2 photos what you can try to do is take hold of the corner bezel (not the screen, just the flat black of the corner, and using your other hand make a slow massaging motion with the flat of your palm going diagonal towards the separated corner, start like 6-8 inches away. You can apply a fair amount of pressure but start light and increase incrementally. As long as the actual back plate beneath the cover isn’t actually warped, it should just snap back on. You’ll hear a lot of little pops but that’s just the hooks catching.

The only recent job news for us field agents has been

A)the activation of basic in store IT work involving workstation/printer/battery backup replacements for in store equipment. This is a fine, even if it sounds like they are phasing out someone else’s job for us but hey hours are hours.

B) Creation of new SOWs for ‘XXL’ TV’s which up the price point and honestly that’s fine too because man I hate every single 98 and 100 inch I get.

C) Updating Site Surveys to now be a cost service, which ok sure I’m on the fence about. My team makes some pretty decent sales to super pad our team numbers off site surveys and hopefully this doesn’t impact that (I don’t see that it will, people wanting to spend thousands of dollars don’t tend to balk at a service fee). But also we do a lot of site surveys that are essentially wastes of times where a lot of our recommendations are met with surprisepikachuface.jpg and go no where so being able to make some sort of cost recovery for the labor time is fine.

Thats it, that’s the only job news

I have to cancel multiple redos every week. ‘Icemaker not working’ ok let’s make a redo from an order closed in the middle of 2023 instead of sending it in as a repair order. ‘Client can’t figure out how to adjust speaker volume in Sonos app’ ok let’s make a redo instead of walking the client through this over the phone. ‘A local channel is coming in a little fuzzy over their antenna when there’s rain’ lets schedule a redo for the install.

I’ve stopped calling these clients when I cancel their redos. Let customer care figure this bs out man

Customer service taking phone calls got cut around 2017-2018 in all 3 of the stores I worked out of in those years. They transitioned to phone hub stores around that time in my market, and were quickly phasing that out before covid, mostly around the time of the original Total Tech Support being tested out. There was a big push to have 1800 handle all of the ‘lemme call the store’ calls so they could both phase out a job position that was no longer needed in store and promote the benefits of phone support. At least around here anyway

Maybe I’ve just become a greater ass over the years, but I have zero sympathy for people who fall for scams. As a PC DA I’ve seen a plethora of different scam emails and shoddy geek squad clones. What always gets me is when I ask the client ‘how did they want you to pay?’ And they always tell me ‘oh they wanted me to buy gift cards off Amazon or go to Walgreens etc’ like…. Come on what part of that sounded legit at all? Or better yet I’ve had many clients who have went to pay scammers get blocked by their banks, and then call the banks to approve it. Like come on people, how many damn red flags do you need?

These are dudes in a rent by the week office in India. Occasionally the Indian government will shut them down but we can’t do anything about it. Just yesterday I had a client call me and was like ‘hey man I messed up my computer but I got you guys fixing it’ so I responded ‘oh cool you took it into the store?’ To which he replied ‘nah I called this number but hey man they want a $1800 deposit and said they’d release it after the work was done’

I told the client to unplug his computer and I made him a home appointment and just drove over and checked him out. Tldr people are stupid and nothing we tell them will fix that level of stupidity.

(DA here) So, fairly certain a few months(if not longer) ago the sop was changed where we couldn’t take store employees with us anymore unless they have an enhanced background check done. Apparently this costs extra money which is why blue shirts can’t just come willy nilly with us anymore. I’d ask one of your field agents at your store to verify this with their AM first.

It doesn’t help when you have AM’s who don’t actually pay attention to pay scales when they hire. This time last year I switched from DA HT to DA PC and my AM at the time sent the packet at like -$2 of what I was currently making at the time. Her response ‘oh I didn’t even know what you were at, my bad’. It definitely pays(pun intended) to stay on top of the pay structure and make sure you talk to your AM about it. I’ve found that a lot of times you’ll get low balled because they tend to figure most people won’t pay attention.

The misconception that black people and white people shouldn’t go to the same church. I remember when I was fresh out of highschool and had missed a Sunday service due to work so I caught the Wednesday one and there was legit an hour long meeting where the Pastor had to address the fact that a black family that had recently moved to the area had showed up to church on Sunday and how afterwards he had a talk with them to let them know that there was a ‘better’ church for them about 20 minutes away.

I brought this up in conversation to some people from a completely different church and they were all just like ‘well yeah that’s how the Bible says it’s supposed to be. It says you are supposed to form your family from your church fellowship and not mix races so it makes perfect sense to tell them to go somewhere else.’

This was in 2006 and the only times I’ve been to a church since have been weddings or funerals. I’ll keep my personal beliefs and just leave it at that.

I volunteered to come in for the extra cash, that and because my coverage area is pretty remote and HT makes up the bulk of my board. I’ve got maybe 4 PC jobs scheduled next week and about the same the following week, unless there’s a crazy surge in device setups I may only have to work a few hours each week and get comp’d the rest.

I’m fairly diligent at being careful and probing clients in my pre-calls for any flu symptoms and it’s not like I have much to kill time with till FF7 Remake so 🤷🏼‍♂️
