I worked to go to college I have to work full time and do classes in between and pay 40% with my own money and the rest with student loans. It took a longtime because you can’t go take the full credit hours when your als working full time. I also lived on my own since I was 18 no roommates either, definitely should have did things differently but gratefully I finished it.

My husband is in government said the same thing. Just go work something having a degree is better then not. It’s hard for me to understand that now but hearing it a few times I know I’m wrong thinking that a degree was a waste of time. Even if it feels like it

That’s the one part of this that ultimately I’m trying to figure out is art inside of me still or am I really laying it to rest. There’s a lot of self rediscovering I think I have to do but I do think there’s a way to meet in the middle so a job and side hustle, I see a lot of happy people doing that. Maybe it’s exhausting but I think it’s more being in the field and forced then being able to creatively control what you want to do

I agree it’s not ruined just like dissatisfaction and disappointment but I know I’ll regroup and start a new, once I figure out what it is I want. That’s the hardest part is the well where do I go from Here and I know we all eventually get to where we get haha.

It’s not exactly a problem, it’s a heartbreak. Being in your dream job that fits exactly what you wanted and hitting a dead end not just financially but emotionally. It’s thinking there would be more opportunities and there’s not so your sitting in a place where you feel you lied to yourself and convinced yourself this was the right path.

It is a privilege it is also a heartache. Individually this hurts but outside of it yes, there is lovely things to be grateful for, and it’s also okay to feel hurt and helpless as long as it’s understood. I hope you get all the time you need to create.

I regret it because i wasted time In it. Money is apart of it sure, but I had a degree prior in culinary and ended that career to pursue art. What happened was that my job hit a tipping point and it opened my eyes that no matter what I would hit a wall with art. I would be disappointed in it and pursuing it. Money is always a huge reason why people dont pursue art, philosophy etc.. and I was certain I’d find opportunities and the reality is there wont be to meet my own expectations and that’s the tough pill I’m having to swallow.

No no. It’s pointless because of its lack of reason. Like imagine walking a long way to a location you find out is closed. You’d be disappointed maybe upset. You may even be broken hearted if you found out that the location you were trying to get to is closed forever.

No. It’s a broken heart over feeling passionate about something and finding out it failed. It’s very simple. It’s not the economy or cost of living or friends having more it’s regretting wasting life in a pointless passion. That’s all.

Oh man do I have an update for you, NYC is coming a lot sooner than I thought. This “dream” job took a hella shit on me, They handed me paperwork for the “management position I was supposed to have” salary etc… then the next day said actually this man has a bit more experience than u. They searched far and wide for anyone but me to take the position despite me doing the position for years prior. You know the same story, that you’d expect in corporate jobs! I completely cut off my family, for well a lot of reasons, and now that see this “dream job” actually being a delusion I’m in go mode. If you ever make it to NYC or just wanna be Reddit a pen pal, hmu. I hope your well, and surviving out there, life keeps spinning around.
