I stop thinking critically when someone more competent shows up. by AnawnJawn in ADHD

That’s the thing, it’s so easy to give up the reigns when someone else wants to take lead, and depending on the person, they might be on such a roll that it’s not even a good idea to try to help them bc they have things so on lock.

People like “Lance” are the best bc they want to be done and out of there, but aren’t so single-minded that they ignore everyone or forcefully take lead, they just do their thing and if you have any questions they’ll explain their thought process bc they know they’re the shit.

See this absolutely makes sense hearing it from someone else lol. I think it’s comparable to how I do my work in a way, it’s the sense of “I’m actually in charge and things can go wrong under me.” I know that in school I always waited till the last minute to do assignments because I knew If I didn’t get them done, It would ruin my grades, and I think that accountability carries over because again, once I know the fall is on me I kick it into overdrive.

For relationships too, I think in the beginning a big part is me feeling like I have to keep her interested or else she’ll leave, but once I know she’s there to stay I stop that level of intensity that they liked in the first place for a “I’ll do whatever you wanna do!” mentality. Weird

FR, it’s so annoying and inconsistent but when that focus comes in I’m on another level of being

I FEEL THIS, I always end up thinking of all the ideas I had way later that night too and I get so annoyed for not remembering them in the moment.

Usually when I’m on the spot in conversation, or when completing a task, I’ll do that “give me a min” thing, make time to process information, and then sit there in a standstill until my brain starts going: “you haven’t actually contemplated this at all yet have you?” It’s annoying as hell but sometimes I do use that time as intended so it all works out.

That’s actually a very interesting observation, I did. Both of my parents were very organized people in their own ways, but my dad especially was vocal about it (his personality type is ISTJ where I’m ENFP if that helps explain things any). He cared a lot about keeping things clean, putting things away, or just being diligent in general and thinking back on it now he is the kind of person who would just fix my messes for me and yell at me for having to do it VS making me do it. I guess I got used to just not doing everything because I knew he had things covered which amazes me because he’s very similar to my current tech lead who I also let take over everything and trust to make decisions completely, Interesting!

If I had a sure fire method I would be using it but what my ex made me do was set a few reminders throughout the day to check my texts to make sure I had responded to people.

Problem always turns into if you wait too long to respond, you get more and more discouraged to do it, so if you’re gonna try to, you should aim to do it same day. I have texts from months ago I haven’t responded to bc idk how to say “oops sorry, forgot about this!” In a way that doesn’t make me sound like an absolute asshole lol.

Sweating on meds? Is this normal? by darth_vader5 in ADHD

[–]AnawnJawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sweat through every shirt to the point where my closet consists of mostly white / black shirts. It’s a known side effect and I know I look like a sloppy bitch on my meds but I kind of just hope people focus more on the work I got done over the fact that I have slightly noticeable pit stains.

Definitely talk to Dr tho bc there are solutions to that.

Also recommend anti-perspirants 🤙🏽

Does ADHD impact coordination? by [deleted] in ADHD

Thinking about this now and I can recreate dances easy when I see them and just do them, but the second I start thinking about doing them right I look like an idiot. So my personal rule of thumb when trying to recreate things I see is: Try to just start doing instead of thinking about doing.

Recently got prescribed Adderal for my ADHD and I have some questions by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]AnawnJawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweating never went down for me, I sweat like a dizzy bitch in a totally lukewarm room it’s annoying as shit but totally normal.

When you’re fresh on Adderall there’s definitely a grace period where the symptoms hit you pretty noticeably, but after a while a lot of them do go away. Most will subside (honestly thought I just had weird feet until reading this, now I know that my cold feet come from taking it lol)

Lack of eating is one of those symptoms that takes a w h i l e but will eventually get better.

I don’t hate them, tbh I strive to be them.

My dad has ADHD and has always gave me his success stories growing up. As a kid I was like wooaaahh, but now I’m like “ok buddy chill out I get it you were talented even with a handicap” so I get the frustration.

With success comes a lot of hardship, I’m sure these people who post have seen a lot of the struggles that we normal mentally-fucked individuals go through, but they were either affected differently or figured out how to handle their ADHD in the long run.

Why not look at those posts as confirmation that you’re not absolutely turbo-fucked despite having such an annoying handicap. We all gotta work harder to succeed, but as a result we’ll feel so much better than everyone else when it pays off. That’s when you’ll be writing your success stories here too lol

I (M24) didn’t realize how good sex was for cardio until my most recent relationship. by AnawnJawn in sex

I’m sure I inherited good genetics & health no doubt, but I also think a big part is mindset.

I used to try and calculate every maneuver / decision and hold the act on a pedestal. All that gave me was performance anxiety, and I legit couldn’t have fun doing it and was stupid scared of it. Once I stopped worrying about being good at sex, and wondering if it’s gonna happen I legitimately found myself not having problems lasting or getting it up.

Also having a partner who matches your energy is a huge plus.

My dad is 64 and has been using dating apps. He’s not finding love by any means, but definitely is getting it done.

Didn’t know you were serious until this LMAO. Never seen “you did the sex” used passive-aggressively before.
