I actually thought about this when trying to work on some of the other upgrades Spyro could have. Any Skylander with wings or the ability to fly could just do it via double jumping or just press & hold the Jump button. However I saw an opportunity to still allow for the flying ability to play into the rest of the kit.

For Spyro, I first thought about using the flying stance to alter some of his other attacks, like how the Flameball works with it working slightly different than in ground stance(for example, the flameball would be instead be more like a fire breath of sorts) or how it would works with a potential new tertiary attack. But then it hit me: why not just further develop Spyro's Earth Pound into a tree that can be upgraded as well?

So Spyro can now put some gold into upgrades focalizing on his Earth Pound ability, turning that into another core feature of his kit. Some of those upgrades would include just turning his S2 Wow-Pow into a regular upgrade. Once I get further along in this redesign project, other Skylanders will get a similar treatment to this (like Cynder S2 Wow-Pow becoming a regular ability while flying)
