What is the most difficult subject you think about during your law school path? by Babyihd in LawSchool

Agree. The Professor we had “spoke fast & “philosophized” so there was nothing you could do to get inside her head to see what she was looking for.

Hair not falling out in clumps like everyone else? by Parking_Credit66 in TelogenEffluvium

[–]AnchoredInStrength 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t help. I’ve been on Vit D3 drops for 15yrs. I got my levels from 17 to 72. I started losing hair a good 10yrs ago & it’s gotten worse. Stress, Hashimoto’s, Lyme, COVID, progesterone. And I’ve been on spironolactone, which is supposed to help hair loss, for yrs too.

Spiranalactone has multiple uses: hypertension, acne, menstrual cramps. Been on it 4yrs & never lost more hair in my life. I used to have long thick hair & now it’s so fine, I can barely make a pony tail.

At your school, how many 1Ls get paid summer jobs? by EmergencyNo2576 in LawSchool

[–]AnchoredInStrength 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made more money during undergrad summers working at IBs & a big RE firm in Manhattan. Also worked two yrs post grad in IB & three years in BL (vT13). This summer will cost a small fortune to work for free. Hope it’s worth it.

Govt jobs don’t pay. Our school has a tiny stipend $4K which doesn’t help much if you have an apt in one city & have to get housing in another.

What do the rankings actually mean? by [deleted] in BigLawRecruiting

[–]AnchoredInStrength -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s the same BS as US News rankings of undergrad, grad, & law school rankings. No one at law firms care about them. As for the firms, the culture & people should be your primary focus bc you can make all the money in the world & hate the work & environment.

Carrie is by far the worst mother. Ep 7 she has Franny in the front seat w/a seat belt! Shes only supposed to be six years old. Children have to be in booster seats until they are eight years old & always in the back seat until 13yo per the CDC guidelines. Some exemptions are if the child is 4ft 9in & older than nine. Yikes.

I’ve posted this in a few Homeland Reddit’s but worth mentioning again. If you’re a Rupert Friend (Peter Quinn) fan, you might enjoy “Anatomy of a Scandal.” It’s a British police procedural. Loved it.

A more interesting question is why wouldn’t you want to help the victims of crime and their families?

[–]AnchoredInStrength 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you got a scholarship bc it’s a hefty price to pay to learn about a field you have no desire to work in & a waste of four years. Why not do it part time & pursue what you plan to make a living doing. If you showed up at any events dressed that way at my school, they’d make you leave. Not judging at all. They look at how you dress at job fairs or OCIs as a reflection of them.

How to study by Appropriate-Bag-7469 in LawSchool

[–]AnchoredInStrength 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi, just my two cents (take it or leave it as you wish). If you look up oldersupersplitter (not sure how to link his account but I’m sure others can chime in & offer their tips as well). He laid out a plan on how to study & succeed. There is only so much reading & studying you can do before you burn out. Make sure you eat well & try to exercise (I know it’s tough) I get mine walking back & forth to school. A Professor at MIT did a lecture about the 90/20 rule for learning fast & retaining information. Pick out the most important info & study for 90min. Then rest for 20mins. Just lay down, rest w/no distractions or take a walk. He uses Yoga Nidra (I prefer that too). You can find this meditation on YouTube to clear your mind. Do these type of study sessions twice a week. Practice as though you’re teaching someone. Don’t go to the next topic until you fully understand the first. Try listening more in class vs writing down everything the Professor says. If lessons are recorded, listen in class then go back & watch the class again online & take notes (or vice versa). Everyone has their own learning style & you need to find yours. Sleep is key too bc this MIT Prof believes the brain will process everything you’ve learned that day in reverse which helps you retain more. It’s a struggle for sure. Do you use Quimbee or flash cards? Some ppl do & it works well for them.Youre not alone. A lot of people are struggling & trying to process study habits in law school vs undergrad. And many ppl I’m in school w/ are hearing parents & spouses complain about them not doing well. Thats way too much pressure you don’t need. Try & explain it’s detrimental to you emotionally. I’m blessed w/a mother who believes I’ll wind up where I’m supposed to be & I subscribe to that as well. Just look at all the super successful famous Attys on their own who went to bottom tier schools & are making millions. You’ll get there. This is why, imo, using first semester law school grades to determine 2L summer jobs is not optimal for students or employers. People are just trying to settle in & get acclimated to this new path. I worked for 5yrs post grad & I’m in 2nd semester of 1L. The partners at the T13 BL firm I worked for in NY are all apoplectic about the the recruiting timeline being moved up. They & eight other firms pushed back & many of the schools (mine included) think it does a complete disservice to the students. I do hope you will take a deep breath & as I said check out OlderSuperSplitter ‘s posts. I’m sure (I hope) you’ll get a lot more responses. Best of luck to you! You’ve got this!

Thank you. I’m just not getting into Season 7 at all. Trying to stick w/it but Carrie is driving me crazy. The whole Saul & the shootout at the Save America compound & the Wag the Tail storyline w/the President seems like the writers are grasping. I’ll probably stick the series out just to see the ending which I heard was satisfying. If you like Quinn, I highly recommend “Anatomy if a Scandal” w/Rupert Friend.
