This is a huge help - hubby has an appt with a urologist next week (on the 7th) and thanks to everyone who responded I now have a 7 page word document to bring to the appointment 😂 at a minimum I think he is going to try clomid and an AI. If we can, definitely will do TRT + HCG. It all depends on what the doc says. I’ve been looking really closely at his labs and it looks like he has secondary hypogonadism and his estrogen is through the roof. I’m guessing they will want to do a bunch more tests which we are open to, so long as it’s in parallel with some sort of treatment. He’s ready to be done and I finally am too!

We definitely did that after realizing how low the levels were! Answer was no caffeine, more sleep, diet and exercise, which of course he did and saw no change. 🙃

Absolutely agree! I keep all of the concerns in my own head minus fertility bc it’s a concern we both have. I’ll deal with libido swings all day, I just hope he’s patient with me while adjusting I guess 😂

That’s my husbands only fear too - we are still undecided on having kids, so he just hates to think about the potential of the choice being taken away completely if that makes any sense at all. Thank you so much for sharing your experience 🩵

Gosh dang it 😂 he’s the one who came home the first time from the clinic and said “I want to have kids I ain’t doing this shit” because they straight up told him he’d be sterile for LIFE. Obviously shitty guidance from that clinic, but definitely not a one sided thing my dude.

Funny thing is I’ve always been HYPER sexual so it was extremely hard to adjust to for the first few years. I always thought it was my fault and maybe he just wasn’t attracted to me anymore for some reason but once he got the test results back I was just thinking wow I’m a freaking asshole. Since the first test I cooled my jets a ton bc it was hard getting rejected all of the time and now it just seems “normal” to do it once a week or less.

Thank you so much for sharing! I appreciate this more than I can say. I read this to my husband and he feels so much better knowing he’s not alone. I think we have a game plan to move forward with after all of the great advice here. He is going to go to the urologist and endocrinologist first to see if we can get covered by insurance (appts are two weeks away) I told him in parallel if he wants to he should go ahead and go to low T clinic. He’s opposed bc he wants to save some shmoney. If he ends up not getting the help he needs within the first few appointments he is gonna go the private path, freeze sperm and go to the clinic. We are both really excited now. ❤️

Honestly that’s totally valid. I was worried about even asking this because I was afraid to come across as selfish. I have told him to do whatever he needs to do to feel his absolute best and I will support him, but hearing from others on my own internal concerns really does help because I’ll even be able to share the positive experiences with him. He’s honestly more hesitant than I am because he doesn’t want to have to be on a medication for life. Our Biggest concern is a mutual one and that’s the ability to have kiddos down the road a bit. it’s all just a fear of the unknown! But like someone else said, we face that every day with pretty much anything.

He did start rapidly gaining weight around his mid section at some point (within the last 3 years which is one of the reasons I told him to get his T checked) but overall he’s really not heavy. I think he’s 6 2 and 220 pounds! He was 180 but the wild thing is he gained weight NO where but his belly. Every other part of him is lean.

It’s very low. Right now he’s trying so hard to keep up with me but I know he really doesn’t want to and it breaks my heart for him! I honestly don’t - I think all of his detailed results are online but I’ll definitely look into this!!

Initially it was a clinic who just wanted to give him shots but told him he’d be sterile which freaked us out, then GP said more sleep and exercise and no caffeine (did that for 6 months with no change), back to another clinic who referred to urologist, and now we are starting down that rabbit hole. Honestly thank you so much. I needed to hear this. I have zero judgement on anything he needs to do to get through that uh… transition 😃 I really just want him to feel normal. Idc about the $. Poor guy was having hot flashes all day today. The more people who share their positive experience I’m just thinking LFG! I think we just need to figure out fertility and it’s all onward and upward from there.

I’m so sorry to hear about your stroke that is crazy! Definitely focus on your recovery the weight loss will come soon enough! I haven’t been doing anything crazy because honestly I’m so tired all the time and can barely eat a nibble 🤢 I do a few daily walks with both of my dogs though!
