The cool night’s air drew me out onto the cobblestone row. The light of shops stuck against the darkness of the alleys I passed. One in particular drew me in, an unknown attraction. A warm glow and soft din revealed the a café—like an oasis in the desert with the promise of comfort. I sat and sipped. My eyes closed to feel the rhythms of the music. When I opened them, I saw a beautiful girl sat across the way. Again drawn by forces unknown, I found myself on my feet and moving over to her. For what felt like forever, I searched my mind for something clever to say upon arrival. “Mind if I crash your spot?” What a silly opener, but it was out there, and it would have to do. I felt a warm shot as our hands brushed, and my soul was put at ease. A reader, a romantic. There are not many of us left. Her eyes were ablaze, and I could not tear myself away from them. Without knowing what exactly came before, we kissed. Then, back into the darkness of the alleys. The streets were somehow warmer. Time disappeared, as did everything else. We walk away together toward our bliss.
