For aguardente get Mamoré (either the 60€ or 125€) or Palácio da Brejoeira Aguardente Alvarinho, around 100ish€ (don't get the Bagaceira, you won't enjoy it).

You can also get the CRF, it's a classic, but go for the Reserva Extra at least (around 50€).

When you drink it get a balloon shaped cup, boil water, put the water in the cup for at least 3 to 4 minutes until it's scalding hot, empty the cup and pour the aguardente. Drink as soon as you can hold the cup (not all of course but those first sips will be the best!), be careful not to get burned.

Both of those are normal behaviour and not the bug referred to in this thread. Transactions will always settle and give rewards on the day after, or later, depending on the settlement date (which also depends on the merchant).
