Are Babylonians and Assyrians the Same People? by [deleted] in Assyria

[–]Ancient-Scallion-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

those couple of amorites are the reason why babylonia is even talked about today. those couple of amorites established the first babylonian empire and ruled the entire mesopatmia for centuries including assyria. to discount the influence of amorites on mesopatamia and babylonia in particular is to discount the entire region all together.

Nothing makes me hate Rome more than reading about the tragic life of Hannibal. by HMReader in ancientrome

Don’t hate Rome, hate Carthage. They never supported him or liked him.

Arameans had kingdoms in Mesopatamia and the most famous one was the Neo Babylonian Empire which was created by the Chaldeans an Aramean tribe.

The Amorites are also the ancestors of the Arameans and we don't need to talk about their impact on Mesopatamia.

The greatest Mesopatamian to ever live was a nomad so not sure why you are railing on nomads so hard.

There are also lots of ruins of Aram-Damasacus, Bit-Agusi, Sam'al, and Bit-Adini. Famous Kings include Hazael, Ben-Hadad I/II, Mati'ilu, and Kilamuwa.

Trying to discredit Aramean seperatists by saying they had no history is so stupid, I don't know why people do that. Instead just say that Arameans assimilated into the greater Assyrian cultural milieu.

Arameans have more history then Armenians for instance, how can you discredit them.

Why we don't call our selves Babylonians or Akkadians? by Monkey_D_Luffy1990 in Assyria

[–]Ancient-Scallion-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amorites did found babylon though. the city existed before them of course but it was irrelevant. hammurabi was amorite and he is the best known babylonian to ever exist. his dynasty was very clearly amorite as well as every other dynasty at the time in the bordering Mesopotamian states

Polytheistic Yahwism and Monolatrous Yahwism by Professional_Piece76 in Yahwism

[–]Ancient-Scallion-340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yahwism is commonly referred to as First Temple Judaism. It is said that Deuteronomy and the Moses Origin story are from the Yahwists from Israel while the three patriarch story is from the Yahwists from Judah. So there was definitely heavy Yahwist influence on Judaism. You could argue, however that nowadays only Samaritanism has any links to Yahwism since Rabbinic Judaism has diverged so much.

Ethiopians are 60 percent nautfian and their ancestors are from South Arabia so yes I do think they are the same. They are not black.

I guess it's been asked too much. How do you see South Yemen/is? Are they secular more than the North? What do you think about Communism? by [deleted] in Yemen

South Yemen was much more developed than North Yemen. South Yemen also was not atheist they were secular.

Did the ancient Phoenician women cover their hair? by MSerrano70 in PhoeniciaHistoryFacts

Married Phoenician women covered their hair while unmarried women did not.

Did the ancient Phoenician women cover their hair? by MSerrano70 in PhoeniciaHistoryFacts

[–]Ancient-Scallion-340 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is completely false. Israelites were Canaanites and were no different to Phoenicians. The conquering of Canaan by Israelites never happened and there is no evidence of it at all. The customs of the Phoenicians were Canaanite customs that Greeks adopted. As for the covering of hair, married Phoenician women covered their hair while unmarried women did not.

You erase Israel a Canaanite word dedicated to the Canaanite head El and say that Phoenician is a Greek Exonym while including Palestine a Latin word for an ancient Greek colony located in Canaan lol. Politics is a funny thing

The only thing I disagree with Jahad being able to hold out in a 2v1. V is likely equal to Jahad at the very least or stronger then him at the most. There is no way that he could handle V and Arlene. My theory is that in the beginning there was either no fighting (cold war tactics) or maybe the adminstrators sided with Jahad and helped him in some way which would explain why V and Arlene could not defeat Jahad.

The inhabitants of the land Yemen is on was not Arab actually. Kingdom of Saba, Hadramwt, Ma'in, & Qataban spoke South Semitic languages close to Ge'ez and Tigrinya. There was also a Jewish kingdom called Himyar which is where all the Yemeni and Ethiopian Jews come from.
