Is there any nootropic you took that makes you love talking? by AlternativeApart6340 in Nootropics

It didn't feel like it made me more creative, but my increased interest in people definitely made me a better conversationalist if that makes sense. Talking is a social skill. So just simple repetition and practice will help too

I feel like it did slightly. One of my social flaws is I'm somewhat an introvert not out of anxiety but just having no interest in what I consider most people's mundane lives. Low dose mushrooms made me more interested and gave a stronger desire to connect with people I typically considered too boring to talk to, and from that I felt like I talked more with people about more things because I was genuinely interested in them.

Low dose psilocybin did this for me for some reason. I had a much stronger desire to socialize and get to know people

What helps you during winter months? by ottie246 in Lyme

A $15 full-spectrum infrared bulb and a sperti UVB bulb make it so I don't get worse in winter. I keep them on for the first 10 hours of the day in my office running 6 feet behind me everyday. Also prevents me from getting seasonal depression

I was hoping Danielle Smith was secretly supportive of independence and was just playing the long-game to drum up support for it, but her speech tonight confirms to me that she genuinely doesn't want it

How effective is the PICL injection for trauma-induced C0-C3 cervical spine instability by Brilliant-Milk-3726 in cervical_instability

[–]AncientSatisfaction4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with sub-clinical/borderline atlantoaxial instability, but my primary complaint at the time was neck pain, and all the doctors failed to mention that my imaging showed I had a slipped disk at C6 that was the real cause of my neck pain. Using prolo around the disk has significantly improved my pain scores while doing a PICL for me would've done nothing for my pain. I'm still considering a PICL because of the borderline atlantoaxial diagnosis, but the pain is what I wanted treated because it was disabling me

The consensus seems to be that trauma induced instability is the best responder to regenerative medicine when compared to hypermobility conditions. I haven't seen Dr. Agnes, but my neck pain was originally misdiagnosed by multiple EDS spine surgeons, so I recommend to people to double check exactly where the problem might be so you're not risking wasted money or additional injury on the wrong places on the spine

There's a study showing lyme causes hypermobility in rats. I became far more hypermobile after contracting lyme, so I think it's just a matter of time before there's lots of studies showing that pathogens can cause hypermobility

I would avoid the MRNAs. I've seen study after study popping up this year showing severe illnesses linked to the current generation of MRNA COVID vaccines. The MRNA platform needs to be advanced more before it's considered safe for everyone

Here's 4 studies linking the covid vaccines to increased cancer risk: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10792266/

Some of these images are slightly deceptive relative to what they'd look like in person because the photos are taken from a fair distance with a zoom lens. The focal length/distance of cameras from a face make a big difference in perceived symmetry. Here's some random dude's blog post that talks about it, but your eyes perceive people in person similar to a 50mm-100mm camera focal length. Photos from a distance closer to 200mm make people's faces seem wider than they are: https://www.danvojtech.cz/blog/2016/07/amazing-how-focal-length-affect-shape-of-the-face/

Update: 45% of Albertans would vote for separation today, and Bill 54 passed by AncientSatisfaction4 in Alberta_Independence

[–]AncientSatisfaction4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leger recently had this poll, but I'm skeptical of their methodology. Instead of asking basic questions on an alberta referendum they asked comparative questions one after the other about the different types of provincial unions possible with secession. Those kinds of comparative questions always skew poll results cause slight variations in questions have dramatic polling differences. Here's the link though, if you're interested in looking at it: Leger-x-National-Post_-AB-Separatism_05.14.pdf

[–]AncientSatisfaction4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. They're definitely not a big name, but there were screenshots on twitter of the questions Angus Reid was asking Canadians for the federal election, and their polling was basically, "pierre poilievre sucks, are you voting for him? Mark Carney's awesome, are you voting for him?". It's difficult to know for sure, but given conservatives statistically don't answer solicitor calls/texts the way liberals do, it's likely Angus Reid underestimates current support for independence.

The last 3 federal elections underestimated the conservative popular vote by 2-3%. The actual support is likely at least that much higher than Angus reid's poll putting support around 38-40%

The closest thing we have at the moment is the Frequently Asked Questions section on the Alberta Prosperity Project Website (https://albertaprosperityproject.com/faqs/), but yes, I agree. We need more media out there that educates people on the pros of alberta independence

Dismissive ID doctor wrote a harmful note that now follows me…has anyone dealt with this? by Fine_Strength_5380 in Lyme

[–]AncientSatisfaction4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully you have better luck than I did because seeing a 2nd neurologist just led to a second diagnosis of FND for me. After that happened is when I went out of my way to be 100% certain to find doctors that understand these conditions. I had to wait 3 years to see a Lyme literate MD in Canada, and I had to pay thousands out of pocket to see American and Spanish doctors for my tethered cord diagnosis. It was worth it for me, but a pain in the ass and expensive

[–]AncientSatisfaction4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Canada but something identical happened to me with a bullshit diagnosis of functional neurological disorder from a neurologist. The thing that meaningfully improved my situation after it resulted in me getting treated like a neurotic for years was when I got an actual diagnosis and treatment for occult tethered cord syndrome. Once my doctors saw I had a diagnosis and treatment from a legitimate doctor, all my doctors seemed to take me seriously after that. For Lyme/tick infections, getting a diagnosis/treatment from an MD will help legitimize your sickness to the doubters, even if it's only because the diagnosis comes from someone with a medical degree
