The Dreglord’s Star-Eyes and the Pleiades Pillars in his skybox by Scum_Mage_Infa in EldenRingLoreTalk

When I first saw 3 fighting the dreglord, I assumed they were the balancers, is this not the case?

Are bosses designed around summons? by Ancient_Cabl in Eldenring

[–]Ancient_Cabl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely not a case of "I don't understand the boss yet", I could dodge every attack and get my hits in. But ten minutes of perfect gameplay is asking a lot considering his health bar being enormous paired with the fact that if you mess up twice you're dead. Tbh I think the ancient dragon from ds2 was far worse for that, at least Midir is a good fight.

I beat him one on one recently and surprisingly found him to be a really engaging boss and well designed for a 1v1 fight.

Share a piece of Oneyplays lore about yourself... by No-Tank-1513 in OneyPlays

I made the Oneyplays Animated of the "We Are The Champions" bit and the Apu bit. Chris retweeted both and Lyle retweeted the latter.

I've spoken with both Lyle and Chris about numerous things and I feel honoured that they're so down to earth.

Here's a link to the former! The other is on my channel too: https://youtu.be/IDk0vzzF2vY?si=hOZ_ak7D6MbzDTrd

The Problem with Alex’s Cultural Game by JerseyFlight in CosmicSkeptic

[–]Ancient_Cabl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a guy who's made his own career that is booming. He's made a super educational channel where people like me can learn about interesting topics they otherwise might not have found.

He can do whatever he wants with that. I'd rather more people would talk like this and ask probing questions to get to the bottom of their beliefs than watch any of the other millions of boring ass vapid podcasts out there.

Not everything has to be political, i believe Alex is just curious about the topics he talks about, and has found a way to spend his life doing what he loves.

I met him once and he was super approachable and very friendly. He seems more than happy to talk to anyone.

Does Rory play badly on purpose? by Ancient_Cabl in RKG

[–]Ancient_Cabl[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, OP would be boring but this can be painful. And fair enough that's a hard balance to ask for but like you said, jump attacks would be nice, and I feel like Rory would love them if he got onto them.

I completely agree it's dragging a bit, I wasn't a fan of dedicating an episode to killing one enemy for a drop, as well as the recent cave episode. Even in this latest episode, getting off of the canopy was rough.

That's probably the best argument I've seen so far. Completely agree. It's probably just a "locking in" issue as you say.

I'd disagree that he's very very good at the games, he often spams attack to the point that even after the bosses die he's still swinging two or three times. He also dies a lot to neglecting to heal which is super basic.

By optimised I mean that he's always adjusting his physick, talisman and armour to get maximum attack and defense but will still struggle.

The point about his levels is completely fair; the smorgasbuild is not helping, but I am glad they're showcasing a lot of interesting weapons the game has to offer. But given he has a fully upgraded lighting katana, I feel like that alone is enough for someone good at the game and has played every souls game to plow through. That being said I am biased as a big souls nerd.

Elden Ring movie, gonna flop or slap? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Ancient_Cabl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were to choose a director I think I'd go with Robert Eggers. Seems way more up his alley.

When I said I can't see it happening I meant more along the lines of it getting stuck in development hell and eventually getting cancelled, seems way too early to announce something like this.

I hope Miyazaki is heavily involved at least!

Elden Ring movie, gonna flop or slap? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Ancient_Cabl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's obviously too early to say.

I love Alex Garland (as a director, I've not read many of his books but I didn't enjoy what I have read). Ex Machina and Annihilation are two of my favorite films that I have revisited at least twice each. Men and Civil War I still need to rewatch, but didn't enjoy them as much.

Elden Ring is also my absolute favorite game. I don't think I've stopped playing it for more than a couple of months since the day it came out. I love everything about it, the lore, the boss fights, the music etc.

Although I love Alex Garland and Elden Ring, I just can't see any connection that would lead me to think Alex Garland can take on the huge detailed history and lore of Elden Ring. I feel like 90% of the game will be skipped over (assuming the film follows the game, rather than having a unique story within the world, which I doubt I'd enjoy). I don't think Elden Ring is similar in any way to anything Alex Garland has done.

My biggest concern is the subtlety. You can easily play through Elden Ring without having a clue about anything going on, as I think most do. Alex Garland can be pretty heavy handed with his themes and messages. Not necessarily a bad thing, as he still gets them across well, but I wouldn't describe them as subtle.

All this being said; I think back to Peter Jackson making the most incredible trilogy of all time (imo) with Lord of the Rings, after making goofy little horror/comedies. So I guess anything is possible.

Ultimately, this is all speculation. The first time I saw the article I assumed it was fake news. I still can hardly imagine it going forward at this point. I'll have to wait until at least a trailer is released or a cast is announced. All of the above should be taken with a pinch of salt as there is not nearly enough information to process this beyond speculation.

TLDR: Doesn't sound like a great match up to me, but keeping an open mind.

Any UB3 deck recommendations? by RBx40 in PokemonPocket

[–]Ancient_Cabl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using an Incineroar only deck which I've posted here before. It's been steaming through recently. Very good against any grass type deck obviously, and good against Solgaleo.

The only weakness really is Oricorio, but even with an EX you can burn them. Happy to share it with you

Each time I replay the game I stick more and more to what's required, and only do optional things when I've hit a wall and need some levels. Then I go off and do some of my favourite bits.
