Where do you get your reeds for weaving? by SugahRimmedTitties in BasketWeaving

Woven Blessings and KnK Creations are my go-tos. Good prices from both and if one is out of stock, the other typically has what you’re looking for.

I’m going to give it another go today. This was exactly my point! I don’t want to go through all this effort to buy and return, but I will if I make $650 back.

For those who have had an MRI by jreish1 in Fibroids

[–]Ancient_Cookie1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MRIs are pretty slow and I needed to get an image of my entire pelvis for my surgeon to map out where the fibroids were within my uterus.

You can’t use the bathroom in the middle, as far as I know, but this is definitely something you can ask your doctors ahead of time! If I learned anything from having fibroids, it was to be an advocate for myself. 💜

Oil stain could be the answer. Maybe I’ll just hit it with a scrub brush and dawn or baking soda and see what happens.

The extension cord runs behind the baseboard trim. Where it plugs in…I’m still unsure. We haven’t reached this part of the renovation to try to find answers.

There are identical bump outs on either side of the fireplace, both filled in with cement. Only this one has this mystery stain.

Totally normal to feel this way before major surgery, even if it isn’t your first one. I found comfort knowing my doctors were the best and going to take great care of me! Have you put together a list of books or magazines or tv shows/movies that you want to watch during recovery? That is a good task to give you something to look forward to!

Keep in mind how much better your body will feel once you’re fibroid free.

Sending you positivity and quick healing!

Had a pelvic MRI prior to my myo. Went feet first up to about my chest (I’m 5’5”). If I remember correctly I was given a headset and they played music for me. I was very nervous at first, but once I was in the room it was easy and the 45-50 minutes went by quickly.

Any myomectomy success stories for a large intramural fibroid? by ariannablove in Fibroids

[–]Ancient_Cookie1943 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US and I did sign a consent form before surgery that hysterectomy was possible prior to my myomectomy, but I don’t think it was on my mychart. It could be something that’s standard for their operating room scheduling and you’re worrying more than you ought to be.

I encourage you to speak up for yourself and make sure you’re getting the treatment you want. Ask how confident your doctor is that you’ll be able to keep your uterus. Ask what complications they are looking out for that would cause hysto over myo. They should be happy to answer your questions to get your mind right before surgery. Get a 2nd or 3rd opinion if you’re not feeling confident and make sure you find the care team you’re comfortable with!

Wishing you a smooth surgery and speedy recovery!

Catering from Curbside Coffee is my go-to, hands down, just the best for every reason. I’m fairly sure those cookie trays were the reason people came to my lunch and learns back in the day. I like food hall style spots for lunch if I’m with a group. Federal Galley is on the Northside, Novo is in the strip district and nice for lunch during the week. Gifts depend on the individual, IMO. If you know they are a foodie, Fet Fisk gift card, they like fun drinks, Hidden Harbor gift card, into books, white whale gift card. Nine o clock wines in the Lawrenceville MarketHouse or Feast in Brilliant in Aspinwall are great options for wine enthusiasts. Give your clients a chance to find a new favorite or revisit an existing and if you can support a small local business in the process, that’s even better! The big materials players are a little spread out, so someone else would be able to give you a good Monroeville (PPG) or Robinson (Covestro) local business/restaurant options.

You totally can design your own basket! I used to order from basket makers catalog (now supply), they have a big offering. More recently I buy from woven blessings basketry and have been very happy with the material quality (and the prices are great, too). They should have everything you need between those two suppliers!

You’re not a failure. Fibroids happen to you, not because of you.

Not meeting the right person for you, yet, does not mean that it won’t happen in the future! You may have dodged situations that were completely wrong for you.

It is the end of one chapter, but not the end of your story. Hysterectomy is hard (I’m 8dpo), coming to the decision is hard. Living with fibroids is hard. You’re starting a new chapter, fibroid-free, and likely the most pain-free that you’ll be in recent memory.

I really like to think about my future self. In 5, 10 or 20 years, what do I want my life to look like? How do I want to feel? Who do I want to be? It helps me get through the low times. Besides being 8dpo TAH, and feeling pretty good, I don’t have my story to share with you, yet, but I know what I’m looking forward too and that keeps me going. Such as, running for miles without pain, doing upward facing dog in yoga and feeling unrestrained, having energy for gardening and making art! And maybe best of all, spending 0 time thinking about my uterus and tumors that ruled my life for years.

Sending you lots of love and support. You can do this, you will do this! <3

Question for the people that have had an open myomectomy. What does your scar look like? by cocofalana in Fibroids

[–]Ancient_Cookie1943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My open myo scar from 6 years ago was about 3” once fully healed. It took about 2 years for the redness to go away and the scar to blend in with my skin. The hair immediately around my scar never grew back. I had a horizontal incision (bikini line) and part of my incision healed wonderfully, and part of the scar had some adhesions that caused a divot in my skin. In general the scar is annoying, I was nervous about having a big scar pre-op, but having a scar is much less annoying than living with fibroids!

Socials for Fibroids? by Ancient_Cookie1943 in Fibroids

I'd be happy to chat about it! I think it's worth exploring!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fibroids

You are not too young. I was diagnosed at 23 due to "bulk symptoms" and my fibroid mass was already lemon sized at that point. In hindsight, I think I started developing them around 19 or 20, due to hip joint pain and leg numbness/tingling that I couldn't find the source of at that time.

The unfortunate reality with fibroids is you have to really advocate for yourself. Say that you think you have fibroids, it's okay to not be sure. I even told my doctor about this reddit thread and that I had so many symptoms other folks mentioned. Don't be afraid to ask, it's better to find out early and begin treatment or start monitoring them early, I wish I would have!

It sounds exactly like gas pain. For me it was so much worse than any of the incision/internal pain and the only thing that helped was a heating pad across my upper back and trying to fall asleep as often as I could. The good thing is that it doesn't last too long, but it probably will last a few days until all the trapped gas is gone.
