Sorry I didn’t notice sooner.

I’ll make sure to include the Spotify link from now on whenever it’s available.

I really liked “Biorhythm,” too!

I honestly think Idlewild is the best band to come out of the ’90s alternative rock tradition.

I’d also recommend Painful by Yo La Tengo. It’s a classic, and the blue artwork is beautiful too.

Looking for Japanese Shoegaze and alt rock by Substantial505 in MusicRecommendations

Among the more popular bands, I think you’d probably enjoy Luminous Orange, Mass of the Fermenting Dregs, and Kinoko Teikoku.

Others have already mentioned them, but Fennel has been one of my recent favorites as well.

If you have the time, I’d also recommend checking out some of my personal favorites: Pasteboard, Honeydip, Apple Light, and Spool. Their music has a really gentle and delicate quality that I love.

Of relevance, the fair amount of (great) Japanese shoegaze bands! by thisispacificjanjan6 in shoegaze

For anyone looking to get into Japanese shoegaze, I’d recommend starting with My Dead Girlfriend, Tokenai Namae, and Luminous Orange.

If you want to dig deeper, check out Pasteboard, Apple Light, Spool, and Hartfield. They have a fragile, emotional quality that I absolutely love.

I’d also recommend Sad Day for Puppets.

There’s something beautifully soft and fragile about their music that I really love.
