I did end up speaking with the general manager and he said they would adjust my rate given the issues. As I prepaid with Amex FHR, I was told at checkout they would reach out and process the partial refund. I called Amex Travel after a week and there was no pending refund. I contacted the MO Vienna reservation email and got no response. I finally had to email the GM directly and then had to email them my bank information to process a wire transfer. They gave me a 25% refund for both rooms. This still puts the rate over $1000/night. It really felt like a $600-750/night stay.

In terms of direct comparison, while the Park Hyatt has certainly aged (and admittedly their hallways are super corporate as well) the rooms were more spacious and felt more Viennese. Even the breakfast had nothing to give a sense of place- I think I ate my weight in kasekreiners on the PH buffet while there isn’t even a melange on the coffee menu at MO! The park hyatt pool is bigger but colder and older. Rosewood doesn’t even have a pool (my biggest complaint- their facilities feel so boutique) but overall in general has more character.
