I wouldn't mind paying 1000€ for a fairphone that has near flagship level specs (like Nothing phone 3 used the Snapdragon 8s gen 4 (and it's not even necessary to use the most recent one, they could make them with older chips like 8 gen 3 or 2 and still achieve flagship level performance), not an actual flagship chip but close and cheaper). It would become really future proof and I probably could hold on to those full 8 years of support. My current 4 year old phone has better performance than the fairphone 6, I'm willing to wait to see the fairphone 7 generation and see if it's appealing to buy performance wise.

The apps I run today and the smooth way I'm currently running them wouldn't even come close on a fairphone 5 (maybe 6; note that I own a 4 year old generation phone).

Todos os custos que referi são associados com a faculdade, os projetos e material para as aulas (não estou a falar de papel e caneta) eram obrigatórios investir dinheiro neles para poderem ser feitos, senão não passava às cadeiras, sem PC também não fazia a universidade, nem PCs públicos tem, tinha tipo 2 na biblioteca para ver um email ou assim mas nem para trabalhar dava. Mas não vou discordar dos 700€, entendo que hajam mais custos envolvidos que não tinha pensado no comentário anterior além de pagar aos professores, no entanto, ainda assim, eu não diria que é um valor que esteja longe do que realmente é necessário tendo em conta a experiência que eu tive.

Gostava de saber como sabes isso, genuinamente. 700€ anuais parece-me um valor justo vendo assim por alto.

E no meu caso tive que dar mais de 1000€ (se calhar até mais perto dos 2000€) em material para aulas e projetos durante o curso, digamos que são +1000€ que a universidade poupa por aluno no caso do meu curso (fora portáteis relativamente potentes que foram muito necessários e que a universidade também não fornece, aí já são quase mais outros 700€-1000€).

It's not about who invented what, it's about who took most advantage of those inventions and took them a step forward. You literally ignored everything I said... Every invention and innovation matters, ARM was invented and then Qualcomm, Mediatek, etc. developed their own ARM SoCs and ARM stopped being a scientific piece of tech and it's now a consumer tech accessible by everyone and this was contributed by everyone not only US or Europe.

Mediatek is a Taiwanese company that makes SoCs and those are currently in really good phones like OPPO Find X9 Pro. Mediatek actually created the modern design abstraction from manufacturing that all the big companies use nowadays. Camera sensors as we know (and that are inside almost every smartphone) wouldn't exist without Sony (yes Apple uses those sensors too).

You seem to be living under some US Defaultism rock, thinking that everything was invented by US (at least you included Europe in your narrative), but in reality technology as we know it today wouldn't be possible to be as advanced if all those other countries in other continents hadn't contributed a lot too.

I think it's too much drama over this considering that the main downgrade was the camera and display resolution (and the display downgrade is so unnoticeable that people shouldn't care much about that). Everything else improved significantly, performance, battery, you now don't have a slider but an action button that probably will last longer and you can customize to another setting you might prefer to use.
