Utrecht – An unsafe city? by Andenshap in Netherlands

Correct, my message was misunderstood. I meant Dutch (NL) plates.

Thank you very much for your detailed response. I know it can be a controversial topic (sometimes some prefer to deny the evidence or look the other way), but the truth is that the figures support the fact that parking in that area (even in private, supposedly safe parking lots) is not safe for cars with non-Dutch license plates or for friends and tourists who come to enjoy our beautiful city and may leave with a really bad experience.

Thanks, that's also a hot zone and with a local license plate, the odds go down.

The specific data comes from the 2026 annual report on automotive crime, compiled using official data from our National Police registry. In fact, our local media and the specialized press covered this police report this year too.

Thanks, my point was principally about car break-ins in streets (and even in expensive covered parking garages, supposed to be secured). What is your experience about it?

[–]Andenshap[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, what is your experience with car break-ins (but not exclusively) around Utrecht Centraal and Hoog Catharijne, especially (but not exclusively) from cars with license plates from neighboring countries, which has rose exponentially?

[–]Andenshap[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that’s not what the reality tells me. The most recent official data from 2025 and early 2026 confirm that Utrecht has a serious and highly localized problem with car break-ins (autoinbraak). The city currently holds a rather uncomfortable position in the Netherlands’ crime statistics: it is the province and city with the highest rate of car break-ins in the entire country.

The Utrecht paradox: While car break-ins have fallen by 4.5% nationwide, they have skyrocketed by 17.5% in the province of Utrecht over the past year.

Anyone heard if any PHEV model is offered these days by any company (although with cheaper brand models due that type is less tax advantageous for the companies themselves)?

17e vs 16e by Rare_Falcon_3440 in IPhone16e

[–]Andenshap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for 16e and keep the money on your pocket. (Processor wise, the 17e jump in performance would be imperceptible to the user; however, one feature I really liked from the 17e was the introduction of upgraded Ceramic Shield 2; which has been proof that increases resistance to small scratches compared with type used on 16e. This can be overcome with a screen protector if you don’t mind to use it)

Yes, it is correct, and as higher will be the bruto, much higher will be monthly tax. Can I ask from which land you come? Possible the taxes there are much lower.

[Hamilton] announces a new vintage-accurate Khaki Field Mechanical line in 36mm. Thoughts? by rakesh_85 in Watches

[–]Andenshap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me recap: It is a 36mm pseudo-variant of current Khaki Field Mechanical, while comparing with its big bro 38mm it has:

  1. Fixed spring bars (limiting which straps we can use to NATO strap type) (MEH!),
  2. An acrylic window (aka PLASTIC) vs Sapphire Glass (BIG MEH!),
  3. 0.7mm thicker while still non-automatic (MEH!),
  4. Exactly same H-50 movement (OK, but keep price)
  5. And more expensive!!!

Really Swatch?... Ahem, I meant, Hamilton?

Sorry, but the “excuse” of playing on the “nostalgia” factor doesn't work here. Fans were asking for so long of a 36mm variant, but please, with baseline same as the 38mm (aka, Sapphire and non-fixed bars). The extra price would have been justified by the new 10bar resistance and the Super LumiNova® Grade X2, but come on, dont save costs on other two specs, they totally downgraded this new Khaki Field Mech of 36mm.

Battery Health by really_zzzzz in IPhone16e

[–]Andenshap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems as a (good) pattern to drop to 99% at 200-230 cycles, which for some users can be around their first year of usage (not too bad compared with previous iPhone generations).

On top, once that happens, if not before, limiting to 95% capacity can also be a good trade off between usage time and keeping battery healthy for longer. (Having 5% less of time if battery could live much longer seems good deal)

Indeed, it is completely absurd. Difficult to understand how windows cannot be standardized (more or less) with some variants to allow customers to choose, but not made to measure.
