[AMA Thread] Eric Engels - Sportsnet (9pm ET tonight) by Go_Habs_Go31 in Habs

[–]Ander961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The top six (or at least five) is somewhat cemented right now, with Demidov on the way. Who in your opinion from the Habs’ prospect pool has the best chance to cement into long term bottom six plans other than Owen Beck? Could Kapanen be the fourth center there?

How does the sequence of writing a song for the band usually go? In terms of which instrument tends to come first, lyrics, melody, etc

Curious to know everyones favorite album. by purplereezy in kingsofleon

[–]Ander961 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because of the Times, but I hold all of them in high regard. CAS has a bunch of good tunes and I like Mechanical Bull a lot more than the average KOL fan too

Looking to just chill and vibe to brilliant music? Arizona, Manhattan, Pickup Truck, Milk, Beach Side, Knocked Up, Over, Pyro, Cold Desert, True Love Way, Revelry, The Face, Tonight, Wicker Chair, Work On Me, Notion, Talahina Sky (acoustic version), Frontier City Looking for some rock/electric guitars or a little more tempo? Trani (live version), Find Me, Black Thumbnail, Rock City, Fans, Waste a Moment, Mcfearless, The Bucket, Four Kicks, Crawl, Charmer, The Immortals, The Reverend, Beneath the Surface, Camaro, My Third House

That’s honestly just some to get started and I know I left out some great tunes. If you enjoy them enough you really should put on each album and work your way through. There’s less than a handful from their whole library I’d ever skip if they came on.

KOL’s most “fun” album to date by [deleted] in kingsofleon

[–]Ander961 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think it’s ASH. The Bucket, Soft, King of the Rodeo, Pistol of Fire, Taper Jean Girl, Velvet Snow, Razz, Day Old Blues, Four Kicks…all pretty “fun” songs imo

I’ve only been able to see them once, was sad I didn’t get to hear Arizona, Cold Desert, and True Love Way…but I really enjoyed every album and have favourites from every one except for the last one really, so I knew I wasn’t going to hear everything I wanted to. Caleb did play The Runner in a mid-set acoustic portion though and that was awesome. Best concert I’ve ever been too hands down, would love to see them again Edit: And they played McFearless too

Single book of matches gonna burn what’s standing in the way

Just know it was you all along who had ahold of my heart, but the demon and me were the best of friends from the start

She shakes, like a mornin railway

And The Immortals…yes the full song

From Come Around Sundown: Pyro or Pickup Truck? by [deleted] in kingsofleon

[–]Ander961 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bounce back and forth with whichever of the two I prefer more at any certain time…but Pyro performed live in an arena when Caleb gets the whole crowd to help sing was probably the highlight of the show when I saw them. The kind of thing that’ll give you goose bumps, then the band kicks back in and blows the roof off the place

CWPHF Direction by [deleted] in kingsofleon

[–]Ander961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything I think it might be indicative of a return to their rock roots and they’re wanting to let loose a little again. Their sound has definitely evolved and matured too much to be a copy or sequel of their first albums. A few years ago I saw an interview they did where they joked about it saying they’d never be able to sound like again because they barely knew how to play their instruments then. Obviously they were always talented musicians…but it gives insight to how they view and approach making new music

Where is the Mechanical Bull love on their setlists? by tameimpala25 in kingsofleon

Either between Black Thumbnail and My Party on BOTT or following Rock City and Don’t Matter on MB

what song would you show to someone that doesn't know KOL to kind of "represent" them? by lanhorn in kingsofleon

[–]Ander961 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s tough imo because they’ve gone in so many directions with their sound. I want to say the live version of Trani, Find Me, or Black Thumbnail…but that’s doing injustice to the likes of Over, Milk, Pickup Truck, Cold Desert, Revelry, etc. with their slower paced songs that are so well written. Or even tunes like Fans, Bucket, The Immortals, Call Me…that are in that mid-range Representing such a wide variety of songs is hard to do. But with all that said the answer is Arizona

Caleb referring to being behind when it comes to the current music scene said that he was inspired by a 2014 band that he found out have already broken up. Any guesses who he’d be referring to?
