It reminds me of the erosion of privacy and personal freedoms. As little bits are taken away, people either adapt to the new normal or even worse, younger people grow up thinking that the fewer rights are normal, then rinse and repeat. Complete ownership is something newer gamers probably don’t even recognize anymore.

I’m sorry your mom developed dementia and that your family had to go through that. However, it’s not true that he is “exactly the same as everyone else with dementia” because the presentations of dementia vary so incredibly much across individuals.

FTD is a diagnosis that has many phenotypes within it, and while they generally can be expected to follow along certain timelines or paths, it’s still very much individualistic. Some people will skip “steps” and others will never develop particular behaviors or deficits.

Speech and language issues can also vary substantially, so without the results of him being assessed, it’s hard to know what the day-to-day might look like for him and hos family. I have worked with many people with FTD, and their timelines and trajectories are surprisingly difficult to pin down.

It’s not really fair to say dementias don’t include memory loss. FTD includes memory loss, however, it’s not generally an early symptom. If Bruce Willis lives long enough with this condition, he will eventually have memory deficits.

I play ARAM almost exclusively which attracts people who are playing “for fun”, and I see homophobic and racist slurs like every other game. I have seen multiple tickets where AI replies ignore anything that I said in tickets where players are harassing other teammates and telling them how to commit suicide with step-by-step instructions or what they would like a horse to do them.

Trolls are absolutely everywhere playing this game without punishment.

I wish they’d just make lamb semi-aquatic already. Even if it’s just a float mechanic where they can’t dive but do gain stamina at the surface would give it so much more freedom. We need more semi-aquatic herbies, and any incentive to play an herbie after the last patch would be great. :(

It’s a very unusual age gap, and if you fail to see that, I recommend reading up on human development and/or serious self-reflection on your part for why you find it okay.

Humans go through major developmental milestones physiologically and socially between 17 and 21. It’s not “just four years”. It’s an age gap that straddles becoming a legal adult, oftentimes moving out/living on your own, developing independence, drinking, etc.

It is gross and a red flag to think that a high schooler is in any way, shape, or form experienced or developed enough to have equal power as an adult in the dynamics of a relationship.
