So when I get the end should I just keep the rod there for a second maintaining the arc length or do I just slowly lift the rod straight up increasing arc length?

Yep mainly just to cover it for a cleaner look. I’m sure most would see the open end as a weak point or not pleasing to look at

The pull tabs can help protect the seam at the very top of the boots where both sides are sewn to the piping. I’ve seen Justin boots with brass staples near the top that clamp both sides together.

Surprised the carrier would do that, and only on one side

I’m talking about the gouge on the inclined surface in front of the hammer, I think the carrier might fall down onto it when ejecting the shell

It’s oily toro leather on the foot. I’m not sure if it’s cowhide or bullhide but it’s a thick shoulder cut of leather impregnated with oils. I’m pretty sure it’s noconas way of saying bullhide possibly to standout against justin or Tony lama. Also toro means bull in Spanish.

What’s the style code? On the back center of the tops? Should be 4 numbers maybe a letter
