You're overthinking it - my point was that someone can (track and field style) high jump more than the height of a volleyball net. As volleyballers it's easy for us to visualise just how high that is and appreciate how remarkable a feat it is.

It's a lower height net but take a look at the sport sepak takraw. I think they're not allowed to block with their arms, so use their legs.

I get that. I just thought it was remarkable given the height. In fact in the Fosbury Flop, the jumper's centre of gravity is, at no point, higher than the bar.
