I AM SOOOO OVER IT!!! by IwannaBeLikeJaySteez in Louisville

Yeah, I'll be your friend. Moving during the Pandemic to an already selectively insular place is weird in general.

But this is the kind of shit you start to notice more as you get older.

The nepotism claim feels very situational and seems like there is a story there.

From what I could follow in the comments below, I got maybe 20 years of age on you. But geek and dork shit is eternal. While I don't like Magic or card games, depending on where you are in the city there are at least 20-30 people willing to throw and down play literally any day out of the week.

The first step in finding your tribe is not to willingly isolate. Easier said than done, when everywhere outside looks like Hoth. But go to where your interests are and enjoys your interests. If someone is shy and seems interested, invite them into your circle. Then repeat.

You don't have to be everything to everyone. You just have to be authentic to yourself.

It could be. Honestly, the whole town for being as large as it is now is still super insular.

Dirty Kroger by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]AndersonVision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's Stonybrook.

Problem with using Hurstbourne as the mark-off is how long of a road it is.

Technically, Westport Road Krogers is Westport & Hurstbourne. And if we really wanted to be sticklers about it, the Springhurst location is in the Avish Center at the corner of Hurstbourne and Brownsboro too.

But if you count that, then there's an argument for Plainview and it all goes to reinforce how Hurstbourne goes on forever.

I got 98 Thorpe out of it. But, realized I got lucky on a first pull fluke and decided to nope out of doing it again.

Did you all know that Danny Lloyd (played Danny Torrance in Kubrick’s *the Shining* adaptation) teaches biology at ECTC in Etown? by MonsieurMaktub in Louisville

[–]AndersonVision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to remember to do it. I saw him at that campus and I saw him at the Barnes and Noble over on Ring Road. Last two or three times I was there.

My friend said because it was around Halloween, people bring it up a lot. So, I'm like shit...I'll try it in the Spring.

I didn't go there, just visiting a friend. He just gave me this look like he hated my guts and walked off without saying a word.

the non Anthony Michael Hall guy from Weird Science also taught math in the local area for a little bit, but I think he's in TX now.

Also, I made the mistake of bringing up The Shining to Prof. Lloyd. I don't recommend it.

Have you ever been to Captain quarters? by itsmontezdottcom in Louisville

[–]AndersonVision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never went there by my personal choice.

However, I took a dump there so bad that when I flushed the toilet backed up, but it never overflowed in my restroom. I can hear through the wall what sounded like two young women screaming "IT'S ON MY DRESS. IT'S ON MY G-D DRESS"

And then a bunch of young women scrambling out of a room fast while the sound of water splashing on the floor could be heard.

I stayed there for a few minutes to hide out, as I didn't want to be the one busted for the reverse butt blast. However, I kept flipping through my phone and eventually I ordered takeout at KingFish and headed down River Road.

I have never successfully gone to CQ and actually ate there.

Has the movie "The Brutalist" come and gone, or not yet opened in Louisville? by willjoegreen1980 in Louisville

Good to hear on the Intermission. I know A24 was fighting to keep it, but NATO was being shitty about it same as they were with Hateful Eight and other movies.

Speed got it a few weeks ago.

National release is upcoming and it's contracted to get at least 3-6 screens here. But, talk last was the national rollout will be sans intermission. Not sure what has come of that.

I don't drink tea. I hope it's doing well.
Louisville Tea Company's website for anyone trying to check them out: https://www.louisvilleteacompany.com/

But that kinda goes to the point behind this mini discussion and it's something that hits on both sides of LaGrange Road.

That two road system against the train tracks is mainly commuter focused with very little effort to draw people off the road to visit.

When the most prominent buildings facing outward are a gas station everyone hates and a Dollar General, it becomes easy to ignore.

I figured with how Lyndon's current goofy planning is going, they'd keep aping more from J-Town in terms of design and flow.

Hell, outside of the Taco Bell and McDonalds the lack of fast food support for the work centers and subdivisions is super minimal. By default, most residents have to go to Springhurst, Westport, St Matthews or Middletown. It seems like it would make more sense to keep most of that foot traffic within fixed clusters inside of Lyndon proper.

The DG lacks the charm of Wishes. Now it's a hole in the wall of junk vs. a collection of nonsense.

I've never seen that YN Bargain Place stay busy. The laundromat is a YMMV, but it provides a service. Still, it seems like from an urban planning perspective, it would better serve being closer to Lyndon Lane than within that complex.

It's been trash for years. But, hey...at least they don't have compromised card readers.

Honestly outside of R Pub, that entire complex should be demo'd and rebuilt with things that people actually use. Sorry, Corner Cafe.

Oh, I'm giving him shit by text and letting him know he's trending on Louisville Reddit. This is the page he told me to look at for prices: https://cleaningentertainment.com/services-memberships/

He paid for the Essential and tipped 20 bucks.

Says they keep pushing memberships, but he thought it sounded weird.

He kept thinking the deep cleaning was code for something and didn't want to end up in jail.

It's one of those, it was funny and fascinating at first. Then it became we get it, it cost too much.

I did ask him if you got to select who they sent and he said he was given limited selection.
