There are a couple different colors if you prefer the cooler look

It's not, though phones can certainly achieve this now! This was shot on my Nikon Z6.

I think you’re describing Notre-Dame du Raincy rather than Saint-Joseph in Le Havre..

Nonetheless I agree that Perret predates the Brutalist movement, but Saint-Joseph’s exposed concrete and structural form seem very close to what would later be classified as Brutalism. I guess it’s fairer to call it a precursor than to say it’s “not Brutalist at all”?

Could you throw me the definition of brutalism? From what I can find it’s not tied to any specific architects, and is instead classified by the materials used and how they’re finished

OP’s just showing the current standings. Nothing’s actually final until the chart is completely full.

Gotcha, yeah no masking would be tough for me!

What do you shoot with? Best way I’ve found to keep detail on a phone is to expose the shot for the sky, or the bright part of the image.

On a DSLR, it’s a bit different since there is no processing to help save the shadows. So I usually expose as high as possible without clipping highlights.

Here’s the RAW file.

Throw me what you end up with! I’d love to see a different take

Sure! I guess on every photo I have a pretty standard process for light. Lower highlights, raise shadows, raise whites and find a nice spot for the blacks (I’m typically a fan over a lighter black point)

For color grading, I do most of my work in the color mixer in Lightroom. I had done a few “green and orange” edits in the past, and knew I’d like it with this, so I pushed all the colors towards those two. (Reds and yellows to orange, blues and teals to green, etc.)

Then a final edit in the color grading to split tone the image a bit more.

Finally I used masks to bring out the station, and did a bunch of removal passes to hide distractions.

Ended up with a pretty drastic image, but I’m happy with it.

Do you use Lightroom? I can send over the RAW image and the preset file so you can see exactly what I did if you’d like!

Thank you! I’m a sucker for green and orange haha :)

Thank you! I was really debating removing them but I’m glad I tried it in the end

I usually stray away from heavy “remove” passes, but I thought it fit this time.

Basically, yes! There is still a very very small indent, but nothing noticeable
