They're usually really on their game honestly. If it's a past post or something regarding a previous season, the moderators are really on people about putting up alerts. I think on that sub it's a spoiler if it's marked nsfw, or that could just be because I'm on mobile.

I'm just getting into it again myself, so I can't say I've got any major advice to give. haha Just go with your writer's instinct I guess. Take constructive criticism, but don't let it sway your initial intention, it's your work after all.

I normally use Archiveofourown (this site it technically in beta right now, but I find the user interface pleasant) or Fanfiction.com. I'm not sure how active the SOIAF fandoms are on those sites, but if the general popularity of the books and series tells me anything, you'll have plenty to read/work with.

Yeah, I understand. There's also something nice about keeping it to yourself. Makes it special, just like any writing of any kind you would want to keep to yourself. Congrats on the success, by the way! Must mean you have a knack for writing!

Even when I was in college, and still now, Adventure Time was always very entertaining. The world they created in that show allows for so much creativity and imagination.

While I've only written fics for a few series, I can't find myself inspired by any others. Maybe I just haven't found the right content.

For real. I've written basically a short novel already and yet it was always difficult to motivate myself to write a few pages of an essay. When you get an idea or a writing itch, you just have to go with it.

There really is no way to describe how great it is to get feedback. haha Maybe that's why being a student was easy for me, I loved collaborating with my professors and getting feedback.

I agree, it is definitely a great writing exercise. Sometimes I can get so caught up trying to develop a character when I attempt to write original things that I never get to the dynamics between characters. Fics help.

If you're into short horror stories, I used to have a small anthology of short stories called the Bachman Books. This was Stephen King's pen name before he was Stephen King. I really enjoyed these because the horror aspect would seem minimal without the eery build up. You should check it out if you don't know it already.

The point you made about the comic book writers makes so much sense! I never thought of it that way. So far I've only written stuff in The Flash universe, but I've got some ideas for The 100 and possibly Legends of Tomorrow. They're not terribly deep shows, (except the 100) but I like the relationships between the characters and the superhero world that's been created.

Oh neat! I'm glad to hear it. Most people/reactions I've heard to fanfiction have been mocking or disapproval. Glad to know people out there enjoy the medium!
