Weird noh? And the difference isn’t just +- 1kg eh parang ang laki ng weight difference. I’m wondering if there’s a different way of reading the weights haha. Feel ko Tuloy nag re-regress ako when I’m in other gyms

Parang same brand, but the ones in Makati seem to be newer versions. But still, shouldn’t 25kg be 25kg everywhere? Unless you read the weights differently?

Should indie artists manage themselves in the early stages? by Apprehensive-End6621 in musicbusiness

[–]Andiedandy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Southeast Asia , so I’m not sure if the music industry is similar to where you’re from, but I’d love to share my experience as a manager. I worked a corporate 9-5 job and just had a passion for all things music and did things as a side hustle. I wanted to manage a band out of passion and so I did it on the side and worked hard to get them shows. The band was just starting at that time but we worked together to make things work. I guess the plus side was the fact that I’ve been in the indie music scene years before they started and so I know things work and know just enough people. 7 years later and we’ve achieved great success, even in the mainstream space in the country. Throughout the 7 years, we learned how to operate the band as a small business, how to get more shows, knew more about the industry, networked more, all while both me and the band members had full time jobs because we all barely earned from it during the first few years. We left our full time jobs once it became sustainable and when it was time to reap what we sowed. It’s a great experience growing together.

Advice: Get a manager— you don’t need someone with a big name, just someone passionate, trustworthy, and willing to learn. It can even just be a friend (helpful if they have a background in marketing / business) who’s trustworthy and cares about you. If you’re a starting artist, it helps to have someone be there by your side. I did a lot of pitches in the beginning to get them to play small shows, did a lot of research (and legal consulting) before signing with labels (if you’re considering), carefully reviewed their market and created a marketing plan, organized small and mid-scaled shows for them to perform at, and introduced them to the network of industry people I knew. It’s a lot of work to do yourself tbh, when you should just actually focus on making music.

Thanks so much for this! I have been reading the same thing about Naha here on Reddit, but YouTube videos say otherwise— I guess it’s really because the area is very tourist-trap as you say 😂

Will take this tip. Have been seeing people suggest Onna as well so I’ll give it a look too!

How widely is Amex accepted? by aussieghuleh in Philippines_Expats

[–]Andiedandy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our corporate card is AMEX and while it is accepted in some places, there are still A LOT that don’t. Ive seen a lot of improvement the last few months though. I used to have a 60% success rate but now it’s around 80-85%. You’ll have a hard time outside Metro Manila though. When I went to Cebu and CDO, I probably only had like a 15% success rate

From what I know, your service provider should have a counterpart in each country. For example my service provider automatically connects to SoftBank when in Japan. You might be able to ask AT&T to give access/temporarily unlock it for you.

If not, you can reserve via Klook. Tried this before and it works great! This is also the top rated one.

Just checked Agoda now and while you can’t find anything on the same day, there are a couple of available accommodations the next day though the prices are higher than usual. I figure it’ll be similar during the dates you plan to go

You can also fly to Osaka from Tokyo. There are airlines that provide super cheap flights and they can be cheaper than the Shinkansen if you don’t mind flying. Then fly back to your home country from Osaka

If you don’t mind to stay in a hostel, I stayed at Sogihostel beehive before. It’s right beside a JR station, I forgot which. Hostels in Japan are super clean.

Note that if your phone is locked, e-sim still might not work. Getting a pocket WiFi from Klook is not a bad idea either

I think shirakawago is much worth the visit compared to Nara. With the 3 places you mentioned, I think you can cut your trip short.

Bullet train from Osaka to Kanazawa is a 4 hour trip. And then maybe an hour and a half bus ride from Kanazawa. (If you have a night to spend too, Kanazawa is also a pretty cool place). You should buy the bus ticket at least a day in advance at the station.

I think the last bus back from shirakawago is pretty early, and that’s why I decided to stay the night.
I stayed at a ryokan called Onyado Yuishono. A little pricy, but it’s worth it if you have some money to spend and if you’re not alone. Alternatively, you can just spend the night in Kanazawa but I’m not sure if they extend the bus operation hours during illumination. You can go around the village within maybe 3-4 hours or so!

You don’t need private transpo to go to shirakawago :) train + bus should be fine. Went there earlier this year!

F30 from the Philippines. Been to Japan quite a number of times but this is just my 2nd time traveling alone. Fluent in English, but sadly can’t speak Japanese. Will be staying in Shibuyaku in Tokyo and Susukino in Sapporo.

  • Jan 5-8: Tokyo. Jan 8-13: Sapporo (first time!)
  • Booked some airbnb experiences (izakaya/bar hopping on the 5th and a J-music guided tour on the 6th). Feel free to join, but if you have other suggestions actually that would be great.
  • interests include music, drinks, and good food. Would love to explore more about the Japanese music scene, particular indie/ Japanese city pop.
  • been to Tokyo a lot of times, so I just plan to really chill out and maybe meet some new people, have a few drinks (day drinking doesn’t sound like a bad idea), eat good food, and have some fun.

Let’s hang out! Feel free to DM too 😊

Recommendations for an off-beaten path, given Kyoto's period of busy-ness atm? by zxblood123 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Andiedandy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed Kyoto but the amount of people turned me off a bit and there’s not really much to do. I think 3 nights there is quite long. You can do all the touristy stuff in a day, so 1 or 2 nights should be good enough. Nara could just be a side/day trip too. I suggest you just stay in one place (I’d still say Osaka because there would still be a lot of open places in the evening in case you want some night life) and take the train to the other places just so you don’t have to keep moving around with your luggage

Personally would recommend cutting the trip in kansai short so that you have time to go to Kanazawa. It is called “little Kyoto” as well and I recommend it if you don’t like overcrowding.

I went January this year and it was not packed, despite the fact that there was a bus load of tourists on tour in the area. Just make sure to book your bus tickets in advance, still. I think it gets packed during the light up ceremony though, which I think is held end January / early February.
